Power flickered at 17:45, died at 18:15. For some reason, #DTE is showing 3 discrete but adjacent outages for my area, each attributed to "Interference with DTE equipment" on their map.

I kind of wish we had a way of seeing the spread on inside-the-fridge vs outside-the-fridge temperatures, so I could time my stovetop cooking (yay natural gas) of perishable foodstuffs.

On Michigan Radio, there was 2 segments about the #icestorm & the massive #poweroutages that affected 100s thousands in #Michigan in Feb & March of this year. Some #DTEEnergy costumers went w/o power for over a week. Even though they made $1.2B in profit last year, #DTE is asking for a 14% rate increase for residential customers. Reporter Nushrat Rahman talks about MPSC town halls and A2P2's Greg Woodring talks about advocating for an #AnnArbor public power utility.

If I let my house fall into disrepair, I dont say the state needs to fix it. You claim the transmission lines are your property, keep raising rates, cut jobs/services, & give $M profit checks to shareholders & execs! But refuse to make upgrades to the #infrastructure. Then 700K have #poweroutage for days. Then say the state needs to fix YOUR #infrastructure?

#AnnArbor still wants to gradually phase out burning #naturalgas in buildings, even if #DTEEnergy remains committed to providing longterm gas service. As city officials weigh their legal options, including a gas ban for new buildings that #DTE opposes, they’re now seeking to negotiate a new natural gas franchise agreement for Ann Arbor that would align w/ the city’s #carbonneutrality goals to incrementally transition to all-electric buildings.

@eikenberry It is time we either (a) codified into law a strict schedule of financial incentives based on time without power (it needs to be more expensive to them to let days go than to hire excess third-party crews so we get fixed on the next day, and not 4 days later), or (b) ended their monopoly. #DTE #DTESUCKS #noprivatemonopolies

Its crazy how some people just got their power back from the ice storm last week (and some people still didn't get theirs back) and now tons of people are losing power again due to this snow storm.
This is unacceptable. We need to move to a public power system and away from scummy for profit companies like DTE.
