Before I was using Wasabi S3 object storage, but they announced a price increase. Thus I deployed it in cluster.

@EUCommission And today, as heard in the actual AI-Podcast "KI-Update" from @heiseonline big companys like #ikea, #H&M, #zalando, #inditex wrote a letter to act against this and want to have an exeption. Because, AI-Models for clothing photos or fakes for living rooms are much cheaper than paying a model for a photoshooting or an interieur designer to put the newest Smörebrod-Furniture in a room. And, will they get that exeption? Of course they will. 🤨

Okay seems like #Idealo and #Zalando really disagree: the former opposes #deregulation and asks for "clarifications," not fewer rules /protections, while the latter wants to do away with rules and "adapt them to reality."

Interestingly, the Booking.com rep disagrees and rather points to fragmented implementation across the EU, which I think is a fair point. She's clearly trying to present Booking as one of the good guys: "we want to comply."

Zalando — Schließung des Standorts angekündigt. Die Beschäftigten kämpfen um ihre Existenz
Die Kundinnen und Kunden können vielleicht “vor Glück schreien”, doch die Beschäftigten haben allen Grund vor Wut zu heulen. Zalando hat ohne Vorwarnung plötzlich angekündigt, bis Ende September die Tore an seinem ältesten Logistikstandort Erfurt zu schließen. 2.700 Beschäftigte stehen damit auf der Straße.
Viele der Beschäftigten sind extra wegen der Arbeit nach Erfurt gezogen. Ihre Existenz hängt vom Job ab, für manchen auch die Aufenthaltsgenehmigung. Rund 60 Prozent der Beschäftigten haben einen Migrationshintergrund, die meisten Familie und jede*r hatte auf eine zukunftsfeste Arbeit vertraut. “Sie haben ihr Leben auf die Arbeit verplant, Wohnungen gemietet oder gekauft. Sie waren in Schockstarre, als sie es erfuhren, manche in Tränen aufgelöst”, berichtet Betriebsrat Thomas Gutberlet.
“Die Schließung ist ein Schlag ins Gesicht”, sagt Matthias Adorf von ver.di. Schließlich hätten die betroffenen Kolleginnen und Kollegen dem Zalando-Standort seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt trotz Niedriglöhnen die Treue gehalten. Betriebsrat Gutberlet kritisiert die Vorgänge: “Zum Jahresende waren gerade erst bisher befristete Arbeitsverträge entfristet worden. Nur drei Monate später sollen wir entsorgt werden wie Sondermüll. Das wird von ganz oben nach unten hierarchisch entschieden. Widerspruch ist nicht vorgesehen.”
Erfahren haben die Betriebsräte bei einem Online-Termin von der Schließung. “Das war nicht mal eine richtige Sitzung”, betont Gutberlet. Bereits eine Stunde später habe die Geschäftsleitung die Beschäftigten bei einer Mitarbeiterversammlung informiert. Aber bereits beim Betreten der Arbeitsstelle sei schon allen klar gewesen, hier stimmt was nicht. “Überall standen Sicherheitsleute und haben mit Detektoren auf mitgebrachtes Metall kontrolliert. Die Geschäftsleitung hatte wohl Angst, dass die Beschäftigten ausrasten”, vermutet Gutberlet.
Da in drei Schichten gearbeitet wird, wurde zuerst die Frühschicht informiert. Der Zalando-Vorstand reiste dazu aus Berlin an und gab die bereits beschlossene Schließung des Lagers unter dem Tagesordnungspunkt “Neujahrsgrüße” bekannt. “Die Belegschaft ist aus allen Wolken gefallen”, berichtet Gewerkschafter Adorf. Schließlich hatte im Jahr zuvor die Standortleitung immer wieder betont: “Eure Arbeitsplätze sind sicher. Ihr müsst euch keine Sorgen machen.” Nichts hätte darauf hingedeutet, dass Zalando in Erfurt schließen will.
Auch Geld war noch in den Standort gesteckt worden, berichtet Adorf weiter. “Ende letzten Jahres haben sie neue Arbeitskleidung für tausende Euro verteilt, haben Kameras auf den Parkplätzen montiert, Außenflächen neu gemacht und die Beschriftung am Außengebäude erneuert.” Auf allen Betriebsversammlungen der letzten Monate war die Zukunftsfähigkeit des Standorts Erfurt gepriesen worden. “Kein Verdacht sollte aufkommen. Es ging nur darum, die Beschäftigten im Weihnachtsgeschäft ein letztes Mal auszupressen, bevor man sich ihrer entledigt”, so Adorf weiter.
Dabei fehle es dem Unternehmen nicht am nötigen Kapital. Es investiert, allerdings woanders. “Zalando scheint es profitabler, den ältesten Standort des Netzwerkes zu schließen und gleichzeitig in Gießen ein neues Logistikzentrum ans Netz zu nehmen. Das ist ein riesiger moralischer Abgrund, der sich da auftut”, betont Gewerkschafter Adorf. Die Schicksale der Beschäftigten seien vollkommen egal, wenn es um das Geld der Aktionäre gehe. “Nirgendwo zeigt sich die hässliche Fratze des Kapitalismus deutlicher als im Versandhandel.”
Wie geht es nun weiter?
Der Betriebsrat will nun zuerst die Mitbestimmung nachholen, denn es handelt sich nach Paragraf 111 Betriebsverfassungsgesetz um eine Betriebsänderung und hier stehen dem Betriebsrat Informations- und Beratungsrechte zu, die der Arbeitgeber im Vorfeld der Schließungsbekanntgabe ignoriert hat. Um seine Rechte durchzusetzen hat der Betriebsrat eine anwaltliche Beratung hinzugezogen. “Wir wollen wissen, welche Überlegungen zur Schließung geführt haben und welche Optionen geprüft wurden.” Unverschämt sei, dass der Arbeitgeber schon für die folgende Woche direkt drei Termine für Sozialplanverhandlungen angesetzt hatte. “Das haben wir abgelehnt. Wir wollen erst einmal informiert werden”, beharrt Gutberlet auf den gesetzlich verbrieften Rechten.
Um jetzt viel zu erreichen, zögen alle an einem Strang, weiß auch Gewerkschafter Adorf. Jeder Monat, den es länger dauere, komme den Beschäftigten zugute. Viele der langfristig Beschäftigten hätten inzwischen fünf Monate Kündigungsfrist. Die Gewerkschaft ver.di ist für ihre Mitglieder da. “Wir treffen uns regelmäßig mit unseren Mitgliedern. Das Ziel aller Bemühungen ist, wenn der Verlust der Arbeitsplätze nicht aufzuhalten ist, dann aber möglichst so sozialverträglich wie möglich und möglichst viel für die Beschäftigten rauszuholen. Dazu gehören Interessenausgleich, Sozialplan und hohe Abfindungen.”
Betriebsrat Gutberlet betont: “Wir haben polnische, russische, arabische und rumänische Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter. Die sind hier, um in einem Niedriglohnbereich Geld zu verdienen und überlegen sich den Beitrag für ver.di lieber dreimal. Mit mehr Mitgliedern hätten wir schon vor zehn Jahren streiken und spürbar höhere Löhne über dem Mindestlohn erkämpfen müssen. Dann hätten wir jetzt einen höheren Abfindungsanspruch, höheres Arbeitslosengeld und später auch eine bessere Rente.”
