Any #Fedora users who have experienced this?
I’ve been using regular Workstation with #Gnome, but lately have become #Sway curious.
On my gaming computer, I’ve successfully improved game performance by increasing screen refresh rate, allowing screen tearing, and I have emulated #caffeine behavior by using inhibit_idle for fullscreen windows.
My next issue is that some games - for example #DirtRally2 - have occasional bouts of distorted/crackling sound in #SwayWM but not in Gnome.
Are there any obvious things to look for? My personal hypothesis is that sound buffers may be too small in some situations where CPU usage increases, but that’s just a wild guess.

After practicing today's Group-B 4WD daily challenge, I was able to get a Time Trial time that would have gotten me into the top 25% of the leaderboard.
And that's with just an hour of practice while I am melting on my couch and having only limited time.Practicing Quattro driving on the same location of a daily challenge before trying should make it possible for me to get into the top quarter against other players.
It feels achievable.

Back when I first started playing #DirtRally2, I couldn't even drive a rear wheel drive car in a straight line at moderate speeds. Always just spinning endlessly in place or into walls or ditches.
Now I actually get all my best results against other players in RWD. I still suffer with them, but everyone else seems to suffer even more. 😆

Taking the Porsche out again in #DirtRally2 for the first time in a year, and immediately thinking "Wow, this thing is awful! It's super swervey and floaty, and keeps almost spinning out. I have to drive this thing more like a rear wheel drive car."
I ended up checking if I can tune it to have more power in the front wheels than the rear wheels, and it turns out to be RWD only the whole time.Considering that, I was actually driving really good. Made it to the top 50% in a weekly event. 😆 👍

Logging back into Dirt Rally 2 after over a year, and first thing it logs the rewards from the outstanding daily, weekly, and monthly challenges I did all at once.
Money account immediately multiplies by 12 times. 😄 -
Sometimes when playing a racing game I get a car that I wouldn't have picked for myself, but after driving it I start to appreciate it because of how it performs in the game and that changes my opinion of the car in the real world.
Case in point; #DirtRally2 is making me appreciate Fords!

If anyone plays Dirt Rally 2 and is interested in 4wd Group B cars, I had been enjoying a championship called 2020 Group B for a few years, but now the club has disappeared.
So I created my own championship in a similar vein, with one race per month, 10 stages with 3 service stops.

#DirtRally2 is like "Own an Expensive Car Simulator 2023"
Driving a #Chevrolet #Camaro makes me realize that people who do can't see SHIT! The bottom of all the windows come up to eye level. You can just barely ever see anything that's above the horizon.
It should be illegal to drive them on the street.

With my GPU finally unthrottled I fired up my #ValveIndex and played some #DirtRally2
It's a great #drivingGame, but playing it in #VirtualReality is a whole other level! The depth helps you see the contours in the track which make a huge difference in a #driving #simulator. It's my favorite #VR game; hands down!

Finished off the Pro championship, with wins on the Swedish and Welsh rallies. So it ended up being 3rd/1st/2nd/1st/1st/1st I think (Finland/USA/Poland/Australia/Sweden/Wales), so still a commanding lead, which means I'm looking forward to the next difficulty set. Also, frankly, I was lucky I didn't get the Scottish rally (or to a lesser extent, Spain), because I really, really haven't got the knack for that one yet.

Continued with a bit more rallying later on, I finished the Australian and Polish events as well, 1st and 2nd.
Poland was particularly fun and weird with the AI opponents, since I lagged heavily at the start, around 6-9th in the standings, but got more competitive times later in the rally, presumably as AI drivers above had major crashes or damage. Part of what I like about the cumalitive time in rally games, you can claw back in the standing if consistent.

Went up to Pro level in the campaign, since I've not really done that much in #DiRTRally2. It's not less of a blow out, with Pro difficulty and 2000cc class cars instead of H1-3 class rally cars.
Got a 3rd in Finland despite some scuffed drives and a roll, but also a 1st in the US. Gonna be nice to have a rally championship that is a mix of results, those always felt better than acing every course.
Wo Long is still updating, so onto that too soon.

Trying to relearn #DiRTRally2 after having left it for a while, refreshing myself on some daily and weekly challenges.
Ooph, falling down to the third and second bands when I used to pretty consistently sneak into the first for longer sets and the second for one offs.
Oh well, just get my practice in progressing the main campaign, which the challenges have helped me relearn some of the skills for.

Decided that fuck it, forget about my nervousness to do streaming that tonight I’m going to do my first stream of Dirt Rally 2/chat/crashing. Aiming for about 7pm, if you can’t make it- not to worry, it might well just be me pushing buttons and showing my double chin as I figure out camera angles. Might be a laugh.

So, tonight I traded in a lot of sentimental but unused tech of mine, in exchange for a force feedback racing wheel- namely the Logitech G923 complete with pedals and gear shifter. I know it’s not the top range, but it’s what I could manage.
I am BEYOND excited to use this thing. I’ve never used one before and always been such a huge fan of rally racing games.

@alesgenova tried driving today... The stages are... *Difficult*. Certainly feels like real stages we see on the #WRC broadcast rather than an "inspired-by-reality" ones in #DirtRally2.

Seems like I might be about average at rally, maybe just slightly better, but certainly below average at tarmac :D
