  1. Todays' poem:

    The Fist
    - by Derek Walcott

The fist clenched round my heart
loosens a little, and I gasp
    brightness; but it tightens
again. When have I ever not loved
the pain of love? But this has moved

past love to mania. This has the strong
clench of the madman, this is
gripping the ledge of unreason, before
    plunging howling into the abyss.

Hold hard then, heart. This way at least you live.

  5. Roderick Aldon Walcott (23 January 1930 – 6 March 2000) was a #StLucian playwright, screenwriter, painter, theatre director, costume and set designer, lyricist and literary editor. As a dramatist he "has been recognised as one of the most committed figures in the effort to develop a distinctive Caribbean theatre in the region". He was the twin brother of Nobel laureate #DerekWalcott.

  6. 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: "𝗢𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀" 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗸 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁 -

Walcott's epic poetic work is at once a refiguring of Homer and the colonial history of St. Lucia, of the indigenous everywhere, of the myths which mark poet and people. An extraordinary layering of all.

An epic poetic work of seven small volumes combined as quest, immigration challenge, and literary escape, multiple themes interweaving in probably Walcott's greatest work.

He girado en torno a muchas posibilidades

  21. The fourth article is
“A language of wet stones and mists”: The Caribbean Poet as a Traveller in Wales and England
    by Marija Bergam Pellicani

    Abstract
This article examines Derek Walcott’s “travel poems” about Wales and England from the collections The Fortunate Traveller (1981) and Midsummer (1984) through the prism of Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of littérature mineure. [...] In their engagement with the Welsh and English “Elsewhere” these poems ultimately participate in transvaluation of the relationship between centre and periphery, a dynamics that marked the most significant Anglophone literary currents in the second part of the twentieth century.
