Good morning tooters, hope you all got a good sleep. Mine was better than the night before but still not great, thanks to needy little 🐀 💼 Tato & follower 🐀 💼 Echo. Managed to sleep until approximately 5am before I became aware of them trying to get into the bedroom. Unfortunately they also woke up the homeowners son who came home last night for two days & he was really tired 😬. Just 3 nights to go.
It is a very cold frosty morning -1c, feels like -3c & heading to a max of 12c. Looks beautiful outside though - she says from the warmth of the house 😂.
I’ve been enjoying my time at this sit for the most part but it definitely has its moments & it’s not just down to the dogs. Having my NZ friend with me has been great, but it’s also been difficult at times as we’ve been in each others company nearly 3wks now & we’re both opinionated, set in our ways, usually solo old tarts (we call ourselves this, so not a dig). To say the least it’s been tricky at times & tongue biting has happened on by sides I’m sure, but we’ve been friends since our mid 20’s - over 50 years & that means something to us both😁.

A farewell rail tour celebrating 50-year-old Mark III trains has raised £20,000 for charity. #Chiltern #Railways and the Branch Line Society organised the sold-out journey on 22 February between #London Marylebone and the West Midlands, marking the impending withdrawal of the operator’s Mark III fleet at the end of March.
Around 250 enthusiasts travelled on the special service, with many more gathering at stations along the route. Some visitors were invited into the driver’s cab at Banbury before departure.
Proceeds from the tour were donated to #Railway Children, which supports vulnerable young people in the #UK, Tanzania and India. The Mark III coaches, in service with Chiltern since 2010, are being replaced by the operator’s new Mark 5A ‘Chiltern Explorer’ #trains.

High Wycombe #railway station has undergone a makeover thanks to local organisations Chiltern Rangers and Buckinghamshire New University, in partnership with #Chiltern #Railways, which funded the project through the Community Investment Fund. The year-long initiative included creating artwork reflecting the town's #heritage, with 20 pieces designed by art and design students. The artwork now adorns the station’s overbridge and highlights elements like High Wycombe’s High Street, swan, chairmaking, and the Dashwood Mausoleum.
Chiltern Rangers improved the green spaces around the station with planting schemes and commissioned local artists for innovative pieces. The project engaged over 100 volunteers, contributing 250+ hours. Additionally, new toilets will open at the station this week. Chiltern Railways aims to improve customer experience and promote sustainable travel while strengthening community ties. The Community Investment Fund reopens on 7 April.

A vibrant youth-led exhibition was unveiled at Oxford Parkway Station on 27 March, featuring five art displays created by local young people. The "Moving Murals" project, a collaboration between #Oxfordshire Community Rail Partnership (OxCRP), #Chiltern #Railways, and community artists, aimed to celebrate local communities and explore themes of place and identity. Young people from #Oxford and #Banbury developed skills through workshops, producing lino prints, collages, and signs that were transformed into full-scale murals. Supported by Chiltern Railways' Community Investment Fund, the exhibition enriches the travel experience by reflecting the area's culture. The event celebrated the creative achievements of the participants, showcasing their talent and the power of art to connect communities. Zach Bailey of Chiltern Railways praised the project for enhancing Oxford Parkway while highlighting the area's unique stories.

#Chiltern Railways has been named the operator for the first stage of East West Rail, set to launch later this year, connecting #Oxford and Milton Keynes. The line will also feature a new station at #Winslow and improved services at #Bicester Village and #Bletchley. The development will enhance local economies, reduce road travel, and contribute to the regeneration of town centres. Future stages will extend the line to Bedford and #Cambridge, with plans for greener, hybrid battery-electric trains.

Passengers travelling between #Birmingham and #London Marylebone this weekend are advised of service disruptions due to essential track maintenance. On Sunday 2 March, the railway will be closed between Gerrards Cross and Bicester, and Aylesbury and Bicester. Network Rail is replacing track and improving drainage to enhance reliability for both passenger and freight services. The work will mainly affect Chiltern Railways services, with longer journeys and bus replacements in place. Neil Gaskin of Network Rail apologised for the disruption, stressing the benefits for future services. #Chiltern #Railways urged customers to plan ahead, check for updates, and expect possible bus replacements. The works are crucial for long-term improvements to the rail network.
