Good morning Fedi friends, it is going to be a beautiful sunny day today & I am heading out to Barnawartha to visit my son & family & to attend the netball family fun day with them at the request of my youngest granddaughter.
Unfortunately I was up & down a bit last night with an upset gut. I’m very rigorous with hand washing especially when I’m doing a #PetSit & litter trays are involved. Don’t know if it was dealing with that, or my defrosted leftover butter chicken, the remains of which I’ve binned. Not so bad this morning, but it was dry toast with a smear of Vegemite for brekky. I also will not be indulging in the sausage sizzle at the fun day. In fact it will be a very bland blah food day sadly 😔!

I have developed a routine to get #StormyTheGrumpyCat in for the night & until today it has worked really well. When I come out for him he takes himself off to the concrete path & rolls on it feeling the warmth from any remaining sun. I scratch his head & stroke his coat, sometimes carefully removing swigs, or other debris he’s collected in his coat or tail - he is incredibly fluffy. Then I quickly scoop him up & support him with my other hand under the butt & carry him in. It usually takes only a few minutes & he seems to like it, but you can’t scratch & stroke for too long which is what happened today.
I nearly copped it. I went to scoop him up when he turned & went to bite & scratch - I am proud to say I was quicker & he was too slow today at least. I hope he hasn’t cottoned on to my cunning little plan in these last couple of days 😬😁 🐈‍⬛. #HouseSit #PetSit #CrankyOldMan.

Good morning tooters. I was very tired last night, barely lasting until 9.30am, yesterday was a bit stressful & very tiring but I slept fairly well waking fully at 5.30am. It was still pretty dark at that time, but I got up & put the washing on. Not sure if it’ll dry & have my 🤞🏼which will of course help enormously 😂.
#StormyTheGrumpyCat has completed his morning routine of making me get up & down a few times to deal with his wants & is now outside for most of the day.
Staying around the house today, just puttering around & readying more things to pack up & take home. My goodness I have a lot of stuff here after 7wks, but I don’t see the point in doing without if I don’t need to.

Good morning tooters. I thought my calves might have given me a little grief after yesterday but they are fine, I might be able to add another kilometre or two next time I do a big walk - I have options 😃. It is another beautiful day outside & I slept very well. #StormyTheGrumpyCat who is certainly grumpy today, hissing at me when I let him outside this morning. I’ve given him his brekky & he’s outside for most of the day now enjoying that sun.
My homeowners sent me a picture from Sicily late last night which was lovely, they’ll be at sea again by now & off to the next place #SixDaysToGo.
I only have mostly jeans & casual clothes with me & have a funeral to go to tomorrow, so I’m heading up home to grab some more appropriate clothing. I will also take my swim gear & other things I won’t need for this last week back home & put away. That is it for me for today really except for needing more milk again. #HouseSit #PetSit #FinalWeek.

Good morning Fedi friends. Slept really pretty well last night & my body & brain is definitely happy with me sleeping that little bit longer thanks to the start of daylight saving. Saying that, by the end of the 6mths I’ll be craving the end of it as my body clock will be telling me different again. It was a cold night of just 4c & it going to be a mild but sunny day & I’m feeling very motivated to move.
So I’ve decided I’m taking myself off for a walk, a big 9km one that I don’t often do, but have wanted to do for sometime & before it gets too warm & the #DangerNoodles are out & about.
This will mean that I’ll be pretty tired afterwards but also very satisfied with myself & wont be doing much else for the rest of the day.

Good morning masto mates. It’s another greyish day today & the temps are staying in the mid to low 20’s, even the nights are dropping a bit as well.
I had a very full day yesterday with my daughter, we were out most of the day. Visiting 3 plant nurseries where I ended up more confused than ever as to what I want for the garden, there were so many awesome trees, shrubs & plants that took my fancy. Then I was second guessing myself as to the size of the pot I need for the front porch, but have seen some I really like. I just need to reconfirm how big I need when I’m home next week. We had lunch together at an Asian bowl cafe, which was delicious. Then I tagged along while she picked up the kids from daycare & school before heading home myself.
Going to have a fairly quiet day today, except for general cleaning & tidying, but starting with a yoga class to set me up. It’s also my second pub choir evening tonight & my friends are picking me up before 6pm. Should be fun, the first one was ☺️.
So that will be my day along with seeing to #StormyTheGrumpyCat 🐈‍⬛ who has actually been quite amiable lately & even spending time on my bed!

Good morning tooters. Went to bed at my usual time & slept all the way to 6.30am - seven & a half hours sleep. My body clock is hopefully back to normal although I’m sure there will be aberrations especially as warmer weather progresses. I’ll be able to tell better when I’m back home #NineDaysToGo 😁.
It’s a bit of a grey old day from what I can see, this is another issue with this sit, outdoor blinds are not see through & are most of the way down all year round. I can see a small patch of sky from my bedroom & from the lounge room, absolutely nothing from the kitchen. I could raise them some more I guess, but they’re old & don’t want to maybe damage them. So I put up with it. Did I say #NineDaysToGo 🤣.
Going down to my daughters for a morning cuppa today & then we are going to visit some plant nurseries, I want to check out pots & maybe find exactly what I want for my front porch. I will also be looking for ideas for my large front garden pot & for a narrow garden area also out the front.
Time to get organised, I’ve been dawdling this morning & making plans as to how & when I’ll start taking my things back home, gradually reducing what I brought down with me without leaving myself short of things I will still need.

Good morning tooters. It is a beautiful sunny morning, but could cloud over & give us a little rain later. So once I’m showered I’m taking myself off for a walk as I won’t be seeing my sister today, I did that yesterday.
I’m also a little groggy from lack of sleep, a walk will clear the cobwebs away for the day. I didn’t get home from babysitting until after 11pm, way past my usual bedtime & needed half an hour or so to settle before going to bed. The grandkids were great, but didn’t really settle well themselves, wanting to stay awake until Mum & Dad got home. Which they did. A very late night for me & quite unusual. My sleep wasn’t the greatest either. I finally got up around 6.45am this first morning of daylight saving.
#StormyTheGrumpyCat has had his breakfast & is outside for a while. My homeowners finally had some internet connection & got my msg about their down-pipe & asked me just to lay it beside the porch.
I had a win in the Lotto too, buying a rare (for me) ticket on Friday. It won’t buy me lunch out but it’s more than I spent on the ticket, I could get a cooked chook & have lunches for days 😃 - $17.55 is mine, all mine 🤣.

Good morning everyone. Yesterday’s rain seems to have cleared a little for the moment at least. There’s supposed to be more coming but at the moment there is some welcome sunshine & #StormyTheGrumpyCat is outside soaking it up.
There is a down-pipe that goes from the porch gutter to a water tank at this place & it fell off at some stage yesterday afternoon. I took a picture for the owners & sent it to them, but they mustn’t have internet right now as they haven’t seen it. It should be an easy fix but I can’t do it. They are home in 11 days so may be happy to leave it until then as the husband is definitely a handyman.
I thought today was going to be quiet with not much happening, but now have been invited for coffee at my sisters place this morning as her ex DIL is in town & staying overnight. Then this evening, I’m at my daughter’s place looking after Miss 8 & Master 4 while Mum & Dad are off to an end of year Hockey Club dinner.

Good morning tooters. I’ve been up a few hours & for the last two days I’ve slept until 6am which is a much more civilised time for me imo. It rained a lot overnight & was pretty warm & it is going to be a very wet & rainy day. Not cold at all though, just dreary. #StormyTheGrumpyCat is sitting under the porch on the outside door mat watching the rain. A day at home for this old girl, so I will be doing a yin #Yoga class to set me up but I also need to add some specific shoulder exercises, yeah, still having problems there.
Just going to be puttering around the house doing odd jobs, some washing & some cleaning up. Then of course I have Netflix to watch & books to read & plenty of cuppas ☕️ to sup.

Good morning masto mates. October 1st, middle month of #Spring.
Boy it was pretty warm here last night, both windows were open & the fan was on. It was 18c when I got up & let the #StormyTheGrumpyCat out & the door has remained open since.
I actually slept quite solidly last night, but I was so sick of not getting a good nights sleep I took a quarter of a restavit tablet knowing it would help. It also means I’ll probably sleep well tonight as the effects do linger with me. I don’t know how people can take half a tablet, way too much for my system.
I had it in mind to go swimming today, but it’s raining & looks like it’s going to set in for a day or so. New plan, I’m going to get a haircut & take a few heavier clothing items home & look longingly at my garden 😂. I’m hoping my Dogwood flowers are now fully open, I’ll take a photo if they are. At least the garden will be soaking up this sky water! I need some more fresh greens too so will pick some to bring back here.

Good morning tooters. Awake at the sparrow fart time of 5.30am again 🤪, but daylight savings starts on Sunday morning which will make it 6.30am which sounds like a much better time to wake to me. I started the day with painkillers again after my breakfast as I now seem to be having a flair up of arthritis looking at the swelling & soreness in some finger joints. On a better note, the cat bite redness has completely gone away. I took the painkillers because I will be having 3 granddaughters in tow today. One will be arriving on the doorstep in about 45mins & who will be hissed at by #StormyTheGrumpyCat before he goes under the house & ignores her from then on. She has met him before though & isn’t fazed.
When we’re organised we will be heading to Barnawartha to pick up the two others & then come back into town. I plan to take them on a manageable sculpture walk over in Albury, to the food court in the Lavington mall for lunch & then to a big play park where they can run around & go as crazy as they want followed by ice cream from somewhere. Do Maccas still do soft serves? It’s been years since I’ve been in their stores. I think that should keep them amused for a few hours or so.

Good morning everyone. Mild night again & it is going to be a beautiful day with a forecast of a sunny 21c.
I feel like I’ve been having quite the whinge fest lately, I’m not sleeping great, I have aches, pains & sore spots but I think the whole lot is exacerbated by the fact that I’m not where I really want to be, which it at home.
I haven’t felt truly comfortable almost the whole time I’ve been here. The first week or so was fine but I can see when it started to get me down. I made a mistake agreeing to this & I have to live with that decision for another two weeks. So I’ve now come to another decision. I’m not saying I won’t be whinging again during these last couple of weeks, I’m sure I will, but from now on, this is me 👇🏼👇🏼.

Good morning Masto friends. I had the split system fan going all night in my sit as it was supposed to be a warmer night, but it turned quite cool in the early morning hours. I don’t feel like I slept that well either, but that’s ok. It all works out in the end. It’s going to be a cooler day, which is fine by me.
#StormyTheGrumpyCat has done his morning routine & is outside in the sunshine.
I’m going to try to do a yin yoga class this morning & try is what it will be as I seem to be going through a period of aches & pains again. My back & ribs ache 🤷🏼‍♀️ & I’ve needed to take some Panadol. I haven’t done anything particularly strenuous so I don’t know.
Anyway, it also my day to visit with my sister for a couple of hours, have a cuppa & catch up chat, pick up whatever books she’s finished & deliver a few more. Then visit a couple of street libraries on the way home to exchange said books.
I think I’ll be having a very quiet afternoon though.

Good morning everyone. Sitting eating my breakfast & looking out on my garden with what looks like will be an overcast day, rain is forecast but I don’t expect it to land although I think we had a little overnight. If we did I didn’t hear it. Still my lawns are mowed & everything looks well & I can go back to my #HouseSit soon, content with what I did yesterday. Still more to do & maybe one more mowing day & overnight stay before I’m home for good.
It is so quiet & still - or it was until him next door came up the driveway in his creaky old tank of a vehicle & took 5 goes to turn around in the driveway, damned near hitting my garage door in the process 😳. Very narrow turning area in this shared driveway.
Anyway, time for me to get moving & back down to my #HouseSit #PetSit & let #StormyTheGrumpyCat out for the day, give him some pats & a brushing which he loves. Have a great day everyone 🌻.

Good morning everyone. It seems a little overcast today & is going to be another warm one. I’m heading home in an hour or so as I jobs to do like mowing my lawns which I want to do before the temperature rises. I’m going to have a night at home again. I will take more winter clothing back with me and some things I don’t think I’m going to need for the next couple of weeks. If the forecast rain doesn’t come this afternoon I’ll be on hand to give everything a good watering as well.
These occasional nights back in my own place are good for my soul. I think I may be using my new split system tonight as well, just the fan as overnight may be warmer than usual. If not really required I may just use it because I can though 😂.

Good morning Masto friends. #StormTheGrumpyCat asks to go out, then comes back in for breakfast, goes back out & 10mins later wants back in, uses his litter box & goes back out again - sigh! My mornings with my #PetSit cat!
It’s only just after 7.30am & I’m going swimming today, but as it’s not even 10c yet I will have to wait a couple of hours for the temp to be comfortable enough for me to go. I’m thinking 9.30-10am, waiting impatiently for my first swim of the season 😁 🏊🏼‍♀️. At the moment the heater is still on - you know, cold house, but as it’s going to reach 26c it will warm up inside this afternoon.
Not much else planned for the day. I’ve decided on my dinner tonight, some of the leftover butter chicken with a small baked potato & steamed greens that I brought down from home the other day. I can feel myself on a bit of a countdown now that it is just a fraction under 3 weeks before I go home. I will start using things up because me being me, I have a bit of a stock up - of course I do 😬.

Good morning everyone, I’ve been up for a couple of hours already but feel fine. #StormyTheGrumpyCat has been out, been in, been out, been in & is now out again enjoying some sunshine. It’s another beautiful #Spring day & slightly warmer again. I am meeting my friend for my favourite river walk a bit later this morning. It’s perfect weather for walking.
It is 4 weeks today since I started this sit & 3 weeks exactly before I’m completely at home again. While I have found a number of aspects of the sit quite difficult, uncomfortable even, it hasn’t been all bad. Being close to town, the greengrocers, the rail trails for walks has definitely been a bonus. There’s always a #SilverLining 😃.

Good morning Mastodon mates. It is going to be a relatively pleasant 20c today after a chilly & windy night, I’ve needed to put the heater on again. At my home I probably wouldn’t need to. #StormyTheGrumpyCat has had his first & second breakfast plus a drink of cat milk & is now outside for most of his day doing cat 🐈‍⬛ stuff - lounging in the sun mostly though.
My day includes heading up home to water my garden & any other minor jobs that need doing. I’ll grab some kale & silverbeet 🥬 from the back garden to bring back here. Then I’m meeting an old work mate for lunch. I need to vacuum this house. I thought it looked ok until I opened the front door & the morning sun shone directly down the hall 😬, I need to pay more attention - so that’s a job for the afternoon.

Good morning Fedi friends & welcome to a sunny Sunday here in the Dong. It’s eventually going to reach a credible 26c this afternoon, but the heater is on in both the bedroom & the lounge because again this #HouseSit is damned cold. Mind you if it was Summer I’d be saying the reverse & probably have the cooling on. I am now just over half way through this sit, I told myself it was just 6wks & I’d be fine but it’s closer to 7wks & I admit it’s way too long & I should have declined, it just felt mean to do so when they are friends.
Enough whinging though, it is what it is & I just have to get on with it the best I can because this too shall end. If I keep busy the time will go quicker.
So the little busy day I will have today includes a yoga class on my new extra large & thick yoga mat that I bought because this house only has wooden floorboards, no carpet anywhere. Then a visit to my sister for the rest of the morning. I need more ground coffee & milk & also intend to make a butter chicken this afternoon & need some spices. Sunday sorted.

I’ve had a very slack afternoon, I even had a rare (for me) nanna nap & it was good. I barely feel like I’ve been home at all sadly.
Back with #StormyTheGrumpyCat. He was very happy to go outside when I got back & the poor thing went under the house as it’s his safe space - I could hear him under the floorboards & there must have been another cat under there because there was a fight - that I could also hear through the floorboards. I think he won though as no sign of the other cat & Stormy didn’t appear for another hour quite a bit subdued & with a chunk of pale fur hanging off his mouth. He came inside, had something to eat & asked to go back out again - no doubt on patrol for the rest of the day. Must have been a stranger cat as he has two cat mates that come to visit occasionally & he’s fine with them. #CatFight #HouseSit #PetSit.

Brrrrr - the difference between my cosy place & my #HouseSit place couldn’t be more stark. I get back to the sit & walk into an ice box. I now have the heater on in the bedroom & the lounge room but it’s sooo cold in here!
#StormyTheGrumpyCat punished me for leaving him for a night too. Kitty litter all over the floor & well used trays plus a large wet mass of fur ball on the floorboards 😖🤢. I’ve spend the last 20 mins cleaning up & Stormy is outside basking in the sun - of course 😬 #Cat #HouseSit #PetSit.

Good morning Masto mates. I woke early again, around 5.30am, but I was in bed before 9am & slept very soundly. I got the sleep I needed in my own bed, all snug & cosy.
The sun is already hitting my garden & I’m not in any great hurry to get moving although it’s not fair to #StormyTheGrumpyCat 🐈‍⬛ to leave him stuck inside for too long, so I plan to be back at the #HouseSit #PetSit by about 10-10.30am. I’ll need to be here again next week at some stage to mow the lawns as they will be growing quicker from now on.
I’ve also put all my swim gear together & in the car as I will be back to swimming next week, I am really looking forward to it too.

I am so very tired. I know it sounded like a did a lot today, but it’s all little stuff really. I’m tired because I didn’t get enough sleep last night, but it will be awesome to be in my own bed tonight & hopefully a good nights sleep. I already have the electric blanket on 😁 & also planning my favourite Balance class for the morning - because I’m at home & comfortable & have a good warm space to do it in.

I’ve pretty much finished all the jobs at home. The council hasn’t dealt with the weeds that are peering over my back fence again even though they’d be a good 6ft high. So I’ve done it! Also dealt with a few weeds in my own garden - there actually wasn’t very many, although I do need to get the weeding fork into the lawn as there are things in there that even I won’t accept. I’ve given the garden a good watering & the two Crepe Myrtle’s are showing signs of Spring, as is my Dogwood & the vine thingy I bought for the gazebo. Lawns don’t need mowing though, that’s for another day. I’ve measured for what size pot I need for the front porch & marked where to cut the outlet pipe back to if I end up needing to.
Now sat down with a cuppa. I could really go back to my #HouseSit - but I’m going to enjoy my 24hrs here instead 😊. #Home.

Good morning everyone, another dawn has come - yaaay, but what a crappy sleep 😬. I forgot to take my usual magnesium & osteo tablets before bed which seem to help me sleep relatively well & was awake at around 2am. I did manage to doze off again at some stage but am a little groggy today.
Anyway I’m heading up home when I’m organised which won’t take long & once that’s done I’ll organise old #StormyTheGrumpyCat 🐈‍⬛ for a day & night without me. Looking forward to the short break & getting some minor jobs done at home & generally just checking on things. I’m taking half my winter clothes home as well & will swap them for lighter clothing as it’s warming up a little next week. It will be a fairly quiet day, just puttering in my own space. I’ll be back down here to my #HouseSit & #PetSit tomorrow morning & back at it.

Look who it is. He did come out a few hours ago & went outside for a wee while then came in for his dinner & not long ago came & asked to go to bed - which is what he was doing here. He may be a grumpy old man now, but he’s definitely cute & quite beautiful. Good morning all friends in the Fedi. It’s a cooler, overcast morning & will stay that way until the weekend but it definitely looks like swimming will be on the agenda for next week with the temps heading up into the 20c’s again. I can’t wait, but need to go up home & grab all my swim 🏊🏼‍♀️ gear - goggles, cap & flippers & my togs, well the bottoms anyway as I have new tops. I’ve decided I’m going home for one night - probably Thursday to give me time to do any jobs that need doing & just be in my own space again for the night. Four weeks to go 🙃.
Not much planned for the day but it is payday so I’m going to walk into town, visit the hole in the wall & buy the other swim top I had my eye on. I am also nearly out of my favourite real Greek yoghurt so will grab another tub of that & as I want to make butter chicken over the weekend which is a packet cheat, but hey I am #HouseSitting so am excused, some brown or maybe even black rice - maybe both 😃.

Good morning tooters. It was dark when I got up & after the last couple of lovely sunny Spring days & an extremely mild night I thought I’d strip the bed at my #HouseSit & wash it all. It’s light now, it’s overcast & there’s rain around 🤦🏼‍♀️. In the scheme of things & if I was home I’d be using another set of sheets from the linen cupboard but the homeowners only use bottom sheets here which I knew & brought my own top sheet with me. So I can put a fresh bottom sheet on & go without the top sheet for a day or two or I can take the wet washing to my daughters house & put in the drier & that’s the option I’ve chosen. It’ll be a lovely catch up & chat with my daughter who tells me she has finished all the modules for her Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She always struggled academically at school & had no confidence in her capabilities, but I always knew she had it in her to achieve & she’s now proved it to herself as well & it shows. #ProudMum here.

Decided to take myself off for a walk after my lunch today. Mind you,I had already done a yoga class this morning & visited my sister, but this is a cold house most of the time. So I thought, why not & changed out of my trackies into a teeshirt & lighter pants, picked my route & off I went.
It didn’t last long, I cut it short after barely 2km because it is really quite warm out there today, I thought I’d manage 23c easily - nope, not without some sort of breeze & there was none. Beautiful bright blue sky & very, very still. Now back home & making a hot cuppa to have on the porch with old #StormyTheCat 🐈‍⬛ & will do some reading - & what am I reading - Gullivers Wife by Lauren Chater & thoroughly enjoying it. #Exercise #WarmDay #HouseSit #PetSit #Reading

G’day tooters. I had thought I would probably be back here regularly by now, but I am still feeling very disengaged & disinterested about being online much for countless reasons. There’s a lot of things I find I am struggling to deal with - things that are going on in the world, near & far & I’ve been pulling back to protect myself - just living life quietly & doing what I do which is still plenty to keep me active.
I’m two weeks into my 6 week #HouseSit #PetSit just a short drive from my own home, so I’ve been up there a bit too & have had the bedroom split system installed for summer. Now looking for some nice prints for the wall in there, just not sure what. I’ve been exploring new walks, reading, watching movies. I’ve also joined a pub choir which only meets once a month but it was fun & I’ll go again.
I don’t know how long this disaffected/disengaged feeling will last - hopefully not much longer. All I can really say is I think I’ll be back eventually.
In the meantime, sharing some photos from the last two weeks. Stormy the cat has an apprentice. I was out for coffee with a friend & there was an interesting character on the next table, it dipped into the coffee. A lovely walk around the local lake showed me #Turtles & #Fungi

Oh my goodness, it doesn’t rain but it pours. I did the weekend house/pet sit as a favour even though I’ve not long finished another sit & in 9-10 days I have my big 6 week one which starts on the same day my daughter needs me to take her to the hospital for a day procedure. Fine, I can manage that no problem.
I’ve just had a phone call from my very regular sit in Chiltern & they have an emergency. One of the homeowners has had a full hip replacement & the other has been doing all the required running around dealing with things. Now it seems the 90yr old father of one of them has to have an important medical procedure next week & they want to go down to help his wife & could I possibly sit for them for 4 nights & it overlaps, so of course I can’t. I’ve had a bit of a think & put it to them that if they can’t find someone to help, if they can take the dogs with them I will drop down once a day to feed & play with the cat & see to the chooks. It makes things a little complicated, but I’m happy to help if there’s no choice. It is just driving down once a day for an hour or so. I do hope that scenario doesn’t happen, but they are the loveliest couple & very kind, so if they need me, I’ll do it - but boy oh boy! #HouseSit #PetSit

Good morning tooters. It was barely 1c when I got up & fairly frosty outside & my goodness it was cold overnight. I didn’t sleep too well either, I don’t like having an electric blanket on overnight, but while I kind of felt warm, I wasn’t. My feet were cold & a number of joints were giving me a bit of grief including my shoulders & knees, I need to sort this out for tonight. This isn’t a warm house either, it loses heat fast. It will be a lovely day though & the frost is already disappearing with the sunshine, it should get to 18c which will be fabulous. I’ve fed the horses & the dogs & put warm coats on the latter, especially little Ebby - so tiny & such a heater hog. George the larger dog copes with the cold better.
I’m going to take a walk up to the netball courts later this morning to watch my granddaughter play the local team. I thought I might take the dogs, but little Ebby will not like all the people & I can’t leave just her at home. I’ll think more about it.
