Oh my goodness, it doesn’t rain but it pours. I did the weekend house/pet sit as a favour even though I’ve not long finished another sit & in 9-10 days I have my big 6 week one which starts on the same day my daughter needs me to take her to the hospital for a day procedure. Fine, I can manage that no problem.
I’ve just had a phone call from my very regular sit in Chiltern & they have an emergency. One of the homeowners has had a full hip replacement & the other has been doing all the required running around dealing with things. Now it seems the 90yr old father of one of them has to have an important medical procedure next week & they want to go down to help his wife & could I possibly sit for them for 4 nights & it overlaps, so of course I can’t. I’ve had a bit of a think & put it to them that if they can’t find someone to help, if they can take the dogs with them I will drop down once a day to feed & play with the cat & see to the chooks. It makes things a little complicated, but I’m happy to help if there’s no choice. It is just driving down once a day for an hour or so. I do hope that scenario doesn’t happen, but they are the loveliest couple & very kind, so if they need me, I’ll do it - but boy oh boy! #HouseSit #PetSit

Good morning tooters. It’s a beautiful dawn outside & is going to be a glorious warm sunny day. It was 7c when I got up & will again reach a lovely 18c. I slept so much better, I was warm & cosy & I figured out the electric blanket. Putting it on high makes it just warm, not hot & my joints were thankful for it.
Heading home this morning, it will only take about 15mins to pack up the car as there isn’t much to do or pack after only 2 days. I will dawdle though as the homeowner won’t get back until late afternoon & id like to at least give the dogs a short walk before I head away. Just about to head out & give,the horse & pony their brekky, I’ve had mine & so have the dogs.
My daughter & grandson are coming over to my place once I’m home & I plan to be there about lunchtime so we can eat together.
It’s been a short sit, but a good one. Next one is my big 6 week one starting in just over a week, it’s come up very fast & my last one for the year.

Good morning tooters. It was barely 1c when I got up & fairly frosty outside & my goodness it was cold overnight. I didn’t sleep too well either, I don’t like having an electric blanket on overnight, but while I kind of felt warm, I wasn’t. My feet were cold & a number of joints were giving me a bit of grief including my shoulders & knees, I need to sort this out for tonight. This isn’t a warm house either, it loses heat fast. It will be a lovely day though & the frost is already disappearing with the sunshine, it should get to 18c which will be fabulous. I’ve fed the horses & the dogs & put warm coats on the latter, especially little Ebby - so tiny & such a heater hog. George the larger dog copes with the cold better.
I’m going to take a walk up to the netball courts later this morning to watch my granddaughter play the local team. I thought I might take the dogs, but little Ebby will not like all the people & I can’t leave just her at home. I’ll think more about it.

Good morning tooters. A lovely foggy morning today & I even slept in half an hour which was nice. Just 5c when I got up & while the fog is still around I’m expecting sunshine today with our top temp getting to 17c - woohoo 😁.
I should be getting myself organised to head down to Chiltern for 2 nights, but I’m dawdling because I know it’ll take less than half an hour to do what I need to do - & I’ll no doubt still over pack even just using the small suitcase. I will need to grab some full cream milk on my way out of town as this homeowner using a milk I don’t like the taste of. I also want to do all my personal washing here & that’ll go on clothes horses in the spare room - & will all be dry when I get home late Monday morning.
Along with the 2 little poodles I’ll have charge of there is also a horse 🐎 & a pony 🐴 to feed & the homeowner has that all set up for me to just grab from the horse float. I’ve seen to the horse before but the pony is a new but temporary addition & quite young apparently.

Good morning tooters - it’s going home day, yaaaayyy! Another heavy frost this morning although it’s apparently 2c it feels below zero. I’m going home to a lovely sunny 17c. I may even be able to hang washing on the line! It’s the small things in life sometimes 😁.
Most of my stuff is packed, I just need to shower & pack the last of it, I loaded up the car with my unneeded clothes & bits & pieces last night. The bed is stripped & washing in the machine, towels etc to go in next. The homeowners should be at the airport & through customs by now & off to get their car for the 3hr drive home (guessing here though).
First job when I get to town - it’s the car wash, my car is so dirty as the road outside is a dirt one & very muddy right now. Then to pick up some milk & a treat for me, I can’t decide what - & then home 😊.

I’ve been feeling kind of weary since this morning. I’ve had a lot on over the last month, an earlier house sit, a trip to Melbourne, home for just a few days with my NZ friend then back out to Chiltern with her. I’ve spent nearly 3 weeks with my friend & virtually living in each others pockets along with everything else. Today after I dropped my friend at the station I stripped the bed she used, washed & dried the sheets & remade the bed. I’ve vacuumed the house & cleaned up the kitchen. I also took myself off for a good long walk, saw a beautiful little red Robin in a bush, but the picture is very blurry.
Looking forward to my home tomorrow & my own bed, my own space & some much needed alone time!
In two weeks I have a short weekend house sit & two weeks after that I have my big 6 week house sit. That will take me into October & I’ll be done for the year. No more sits & definitely no more long sits ever! #HouseSit #PetSit #BusyLife

Good morning Fedi friends. It was a teeth chattering -2c this morning & I felt it as I took my NZ friend to the train station at 6.30am. Most of my car is under cover here, but the Qashqais rear end was fully iced up. The paddocks & grass all looked pretty in the early dawn though. Today it will reach a sunny 15c & I think I will take myself off for a walk sometime today & soak up that sun.
Starting to pack up my own gear today too & will put all I don’t need into the car to make it easier in the morning. I’ve stripped & washed the sheets on my friends bed & will remake it when they’re dry later today & will also start the cleaning. Looking forward to going home & having a good nights sleep as the little black 🐀 💼 likes to sleep on the bed with me & he snores - loudly! He is a French bulldog so has a squishy face & a big attitude. Larger 🐀 💼 is quiet & sleeps by the side of the bed.

Good morning tooters. It’s was a very cold frosty 🥶 morning today at -2c with a feels like of -4c & it certainly did feel that cold. Small black 🐀 💼 came & jumped on my bed during the night & curled into my back. Pretty good hot water bottle too. Larger 🐀 💼 stayed curled up in a corner of the lounge. As I’d been told to do when it’s really cold by the homeowner, I left the ducted heating on 16c all night just ticking over, so didn’t feel too cold when I got up at around 5.30am.
Just hanging around Chiltern today, might go & have a coffee out & a nice walk, but that’s it. My NZ friend heads down to Melbourne & the airport on the morning train tomorrow & I go home Sunday morning 😊.
I’ve been having some big thinks this morning - dangerous I know! I’ve been planning on a new ceiling fan in my bedroom for this coming summer as the old one doesn’t work very well anymore. Instead I’m going to call the local heating/cooling people to come out & give me a quote for a small split system for in there & to check out whether or not my old split system in the lounge needs upgrading or not. I want some information & things in place before the coming summer season hits.

Good morning tooters, hope you all got a good sleep. Mine was better than the night before but still not great, thanks to needy little 🐀 💼 Tato & follower 🐀 💼 Echo. Managed to sleep until approximately 5am before I became aware of them trying to get into the bedroom. Unfortunately they also woke up the homeowners son who came home last night for two days & he was really tired 😬. Just 3 nights to go.
It is a very cold frosty morning -1c, feels like -3c & heading to a max of 12c. Looks beautiful outside though - she says from the warmth of the house 😂.
I’ve been enjoying my time at this sit for the most part but it definitely has its moments & it’s not just down to the dogs. Having my NZ friend with me has been great, but it’s also been difficult at times as we’ve been in each others company nearly 3wks now & we’re both opinionated, set in our ways, usually solo old tarts (we call ourselves this, so not a dig). To say the least it’s been tricky at times & tongue biting has happened on by sides I’m sure, but we’ve been friends since our mid 20’s - over 50 years & that means something to us both😁.

Good morning tooting friends. A not bad 6c when I got up & heading to a credible 14c. Still a little damp & dreary outside but there are glimpses of blue so hopefully it’ll turn out to be a lovely day.
It will probably be lovely anyway no matter the weather. We’re just waiting for our washing to finish & then are heading to Yarrawonga for the day, I did this trip not long ago but my NZ friend hasn’t been there in many years & has asked if we can do that today, so that’s will be our day.

Good morning tooters, it was a fairly cool start to this morning at around 4c the dogs woke me up pretty early - 5.30am & I was very soundly asleep so felt a little grumpy 😠. I let them out & climbed back into bed in the vain hope I’d doze off again, but I know me - fat chance there. So got up, fed them & then sorted myself out with food & coffee & waited for my NZ friend to wake as she goes to bed early & sleeps later than I do too 😁.
Spent a lovely couple of hours with my son & his family yesterday afternoon. Today it’s my daughter’s turn, she would like to spend some time with us so we’re heading into town a little later & we’re having lunch together. That’s about all we have planned this day though but it’s enough.

Good morning tooters from chilly Chiltern. Actually not too chilly this morning at 7c, icy yesterday though, but it’s only going to get to 11c today with some rain forecast. Going to need the woollies on. This is a nice warm house & my NZ friend & I are well settled in.
The dogs are a little needy but very cute & friendly, mind you I’ve known both since they were pups. I’ll attach a couple of pics after, both of them giving me the side eye 😂. The little black one is Tato (as in potato) & the other is Echo.
A few dramas on the first day as the new door keys weren’t working which was a worry as I’d locked the place up like Fort Knox before we went out. Luckily there is a lockbox with spares, so I used them & later the son came around, who usually works away I might add, so more luck & he sprayed stuff into the locks & all is good now.
There’s a few sheep & an alpaca in the paddock next door & 4 spring lambs, one born just yesterday. We are going for big walk today that will take us passed another friends place so may drop in there for a cuppa to break up the walk.

Home, settled & some washing done & feeling quite weary for some reason - maybe 4 days of 5km plus walks have something to do with it 😬 as my calves are also feeling a little tight & for some reason the bones on the top of my feet are also a bit sore 🤷🏼‍♀️ - I’ve never had that happen before. It feels similar to shin splints but on my feet - very strange.

Good morning tooters, from a very frosty 🥶 Chiltern. It’s minus 1c this morning & it’s feels like it, the heater is on & keeping me warm. Today it’s going to get to a sunny but cool 14c. Same as what I will have once I arrive home around lunchtime today. All week the temps will be similar.
This morning’s final dog walk may be a shorter one as I noticed Coco limping near the end of the walk yesterday, I was told I could leave her at home, but she also loves a walk just as much as Ozi, who behaves like he’s never been for one before every single day 😄. Eventually Coco will either need a short daily walk with Ozi, but then take Ozi on a longer solo walk.
Once we’re back I’ll start packing & cleaning up to go home. It won’t take me long.

Good morning tooting friends. Last full day in Chiltern & it’s a cold one. First frost of the season dipping below zero & a feels like of -2c, still it is going to be a beautiful sunny day reaching 15c. It certainly feels cold outside from what I felt when I let the cat out - brrr 🥶.
Not much planned today, just a walk for the dogs in about an hour. I brought three of my frozen meals with me & I’ve eaten them all, so tonight could be baked beans, or a cup of soup - both require toast. I’ve already had an egg on toast - so I guess it’ll be a toast type of day. I’ll see how I feel later. Usually when I come out here I bring too much food or I stretch it to extra meals - not this time. It doesn’t matter, I never not have food & there is Silverbeet in the garden - hmmm - thinking now 🤔.
Time for me to shower & get ready to go out, I wish I’d brought gloves 🧤 with me 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Good morning Fedi friends. It was supposed to be a 3c night, but it certainly wasn’t, it was easily double that & today it’s only getting to 13c. After all the rain lately there’s a thick fog around the area. No rain forecast & no surprise, it’s 100% humidity.
I didn’t sleep so soundly last night even though I was tired. I was very hot & checked a couple of times that I hadn’t left the electric blanket on - I hadn’t, just me being my own little generator again, so I was constantly moving the doona on & off me.
I’m going to have a quiet day after I’ve walked the dogs, I might head into the village at lunchtime but that’s only a 5 min walk away. I have promised to go & feed a friends horse & her two dogs this afternoon as she has a wedding to go to & wont get home until very late.

Good morning tooters. Quite a blustery night last night with squally rain when I woke up & the cat wanting to come in. It’s not as if he doesn’t have a pet flap, but hey, why should he use a common pet flap used by the dogs when a human can let him in 🤣. Actually I think the neighbours might also be feeding him, he’s getting quite plump. 8c when I got up, but it definitely felt colder when I opened the door. Only reaching 12c here today too with more rain around.
I have to get moving shortly & take the dogs for their walk while it’s still fairly calm out there. Then I’ll be changing my clothes & going to picked up Miss 7 & Miss 14 from Barnawartha & take them out for the day. I think we will head to Corowa, something different. They like checking out op shops as well & I’ve checked, Corowa has 3. Then we’ll find somewhere for lunch & if the rain does stay away I know Miss 7 would love a playground. That’s a wait and see activity though.

It’s grey, very windy out & starting to get dark, so I’ve done the jobs that need doing. I’ve fed the dogs, the cat & the chooks & have been gifted two eggs 🥚 🥚 for my brekky tomorrow, yum yum. My own dinner is just the soup I brought with me with a slice of cheesy toast, but I’m not at all hungry, I see how I feel in an hour or so.
Time to settle down for the evening & watch some Netflix. #HouseSit #PetSit

Good morning tooters. Around 9c when I woke up this morning & it will be the same daily temp of 16c as it’s been for the last two days. Still very grey & overcast with more rain to come this afternoon. I was very glad when that storm finished late last night & I was able to have a last check of the back yard to reassure myself all was good & no water came in under the back garage door. I don’t even think the rain was as fierce nor as fast as those other rain events I’ve had. It did mean I was able to get to go to bed & sleep unstressed. It always feels worse when it’s dark.
I had a lovely few hours out in Albury yesterday with my friend, we had coffee at the Myer centre & then went for a wander, window & op shopping. I didn’t buy anything at all except except the coffee. It was just so good to be outside doing something & the rain held off until we got home. I also dropped off half a dozen books to a street library & took 2 out for myself. I love street libraries. The pictures were taken down a laneway towards the Myer complex.
I have to pack to head to Chiltern this morning but don’t plan to get there until around lunchtime. It’s just for 4 nights & I will take a couple of my frozen meals & soup with me. That way I don’t need to do much cooking.

Good morning tooters. It’s about 8c here this morning due to the low cloud holding in a little warmth & again the temps will only get to 17c with some rain forecast for the afternoon.
I’m going home this morning & I didn’t sleep very soundly last night. The mattress on my bed is a very firm one that my joints don’t really like, so tossing & turning as areas became sore.
Had a lovely day down in Rutherglen with my friend yesterday, we walked the main street of town & down a few side streets, into the park & walked around the lake, which is a lovely area that I’ve never seen before. I took a picture of a sculpture there that represents the lake & on the reverse side is the word lake in numerous languages, it’s lovely.
Taking my fur charges off for a walk as soon as I’m showered & then back here to pack up, clean up & head home hopefully by around lunch time. Back here again in 5 weeks 😊.

Lovely walk with my two charges this morning. Old girl Coco is definitely slowing down & young Ozy is calming down, although he still thinks every drain, hollow or hole is a home to rabbits & wants to investigate each & every one!
I didn’t leave home until about 8.30am as it was pretty cold out there & only 6c when we left anyway. Had to pivot from the route I planned as when I turned the first corner I saw a very large dog out & about on its own at the end of the road & looking alertly at us! Gave me to heebies so we turned back & took another route towards the outskirts of Chiltern, then round & down through the town to the park & reserve. 5kms all up & both dogs have now had breakfast & are snoozing. Just waiting to be picked up by a friend to go to Rutherglen for lunch. #HouseSit #PetSit #Rural

Good morning Fedi friends. Very chilly start to my day at 3c & the heater is still on even though the sun is now up reaching my garden. We’re supposed to reach a credible 18c today. I woke very early this morning, before 5am & even though I was snuggly & cosy I started thinking (bad move at 5am) about what I needed & wanted to do when I got up.
Today I head to Chiltern for a short 2 night house sit at one of my regulars so I won’t need to take much with me, a couple of my meals from the freezer & small amounts of things I use regularly. Warm clothes & that’s about it. Easy peasy. Must not forget to bag up the feijoas to take down & distribute.
I think that once I’m showered though & before I put everything together & in the car I’ll do a yoga routine to settle this brain of mine. I don’t need to be down there until around lunchtime.

Good morning tooters. It’s another gorgeous day & will get to 24c today here in Chiltern, but I’ll be heading home again where it’ll be 25c. The heater is on at the moment though as it was 6c when I got up.
I’ve nearly finished my breakfast & will soon have my shower & take these two dogs for their walk. I’ve already stripped my bed & will put the washing on before we leave for the walk. Then just need to hang it out once we’re back. After that it’ll just be a matter of packing up, cleaning up, putting the rubbish in the bin & heading home. I’ve done this so often now it doesn’t take very long. After I’ve put everything in the car I do one final check that I haven’t forgotten anything & the house is clean & tidy & I’m done . It’s always nice to know I’m going home.
I’m actually a little groggy this morning, I didn’t sleep particularly well so going for a walk will clear those cobwebs out.

Good morning tooters. Cool start down here in Chiltern & it’s just 4c - brrr 🥶. Still, the day is going to be a beautiful sunny 23c. Dawn services were held at the local war memorial here, just a 5 minute walk away. I didn’t go even though I’d have known some of the attendees. I tend to get a bit weepy at these things as I’ve got older for many reasons. I also know that afterwards nearly everyone walks across the road to the local pub for bacon & egg rolls. Some will still be there by lunch time.
I’m just finishing my breakfast & hopefully will be out for a walk with the dogs in less than an hour. I’m planning to skirt the township as much as possible which the dogs will like as it’ll give them a longer walk than usual.
Apart from that it’ll just be a quiet day although I am hoping to catch up with another friend here if possible.

Good morning Fedi friends. Not quite as cold this morning but still chilly at 3c & it going to be a lovely sunny 22c here in Chiltern though . 23c & sunny at home in Wodonga & where I’m heading in a couple of hours. I’m only home until Friday when I’m back here again for the weekend.
At the moment I’m finishing breakfast & about to shower & then take these little dogs for a walk before I pack up, clean up & head home.
I’ll be dropping into the greengrocers before I reach home. I’ve decided it is definitely home made soup weather now & want soup making veg. Then when I get home I can get the stock & broth out of my freezer & make chicken soup. Some will go in the freezer, some I’ll eat tonight maybe - or tomorrow for sure.
It’s going to be nice to be back home & sleeping in my own bed again even if it’s only until Friday 😁.

Good morning tooters. Just 7c this morning & yes I did put the heater on, started it at 23, dropped it to 22 an hour later & then down to 21 & it’s now off 😂. My body is warm but my feet are cold & half an hour ago I was too hot, sweaty & kicking off my slippers 🤷🏼‍♀️ - weird old woman 😬. It’s going to be a lovely warm 23c today & the sky is a bright nearly cloudless blue.
My calm continues today as I take my time to finish my packing to go to my sit. I don’t need to be there until 12.30pm but I am picking up my granddaughters in Barnawartha at around 11-11.30am to take them to lunch in Chiltern, then we will go to my sit, drop my stuff off, pick up the dogs & they can help me take them for a walk & Miss 8 will also want to see the cat if he’s not hiding & the chickens.
Time to shower & get the rest of my stuff organised - at a calm & steady pace 😁.

Good morning tooters. It was 19c when I got up this morning & it’s heading to a hot 35c today. Feeling pretty ordinary this morning after an unsettled sleep.
My back is causing me some grief again & I woke in the wee small hours with a sore stomach as well 🤷🏼‍♀️. I haven’t done too much but I am feeling quite uncomfortable - this too shall pass & hopefully sooner rather than later. I have no idea what’s going on with my body lately but I don’t like it. Safe to say I want to go home & be in my own place again - today is the last day here though, back to my own bed tomorrow.
Still I’ve decided not to go swimming this morning but will pack up everything I won’t need for the next 24hrs & take it all up home & water my garden as despite being still very damp the trees & veg garden will need it. If I feel up to it I’ll do some cleaning here rather than in one big job tomorrow.
Not much else on for the day, just taking my time to do what I need to.

Good morning tooters. I can barely believe it but I slept over 8 & 1/2 hrs last night. I can’t remember the last time I slept that long & when I sleep longer than normal I say I must have needed it - & I must have really needed it last night! It was about 23c when I woke up to grey overcast skies & today is supposed to be a rainy 29c & looking at the BOM that rain isn’t far away.
I prepared a chia & oat porridge last night for today’s breakfast & I’m glad I did as I didn’t have to think about it, just heat it & while I didn’t have a banana, my usual favourite to add I did have blackberries & a few grapes - it was ok - banana is better.
I let the cat out when I got up, he was a long time out there before he asked to come in for breakfast & I thought he was obviously doing his ablutions. I cleaned his litter trays while he was out there & when I let him in - he didn’t ask for breakfast, he used the litter box & asked to go outside again 🤷🏼‍♀️ - cat humour again!
Only plan for today is to visit my sister & give her the books I picked from a couple of street libraries & have a catch up chat on our week for a couple of hours. All depending on how I’m feeling, I may do a yoga class later today.

Good morning Fedi friends. Awake at predawn as seems to be my usual nowadays. It was a pleasant & cool 19c this morning but heading to a hot 33c & feels less humid today thank goodness. I’ll be watering the garden again before I know it at this rate.
I let old Stormy out, I let old Stormy back in again & then gave him his breakfast & let him out again! Cat 🐈‍⬛ routine! He will now happily stay out for most of the day & he comes in around 4pm, done for the day. He’s already discovered his blanket is on the end of my bed & lay beside it on the pristine quilt leaving black fur all over it 🫤 - typical cat 🐈‍⬛ sense of humour.
I was quite lightheaded when I got up & I know why. I’m feeling a lot less stressed than I have all week now I’m away from the outside mess at my place & lightheadedness is the result of the stress being released. I know what I need to do to help myself though. Even though I go through the motions of doing what needs to be done, I know it affects me. I took a picture of what the inside of my garage looks like now & you can clearly see how much silt went through under that back door & the tarps I’ve put down so that I can walk through & not track the fine silt inside my unit.

All settled into my house & pet sit. Stormy the grumpy old black cat is inside & has already had dinner & will be staying inside now until the morning. I’ve unpacked & didn’t have to bring heaps as my own place is not far away for anything I really need. I brought down some leftover spag bol for the first nights easy dinner.
It is so hot & humid outside but apparently only 30c, but that sun feels very fierce & bitey. Time for a cool change I think!
