Went for a stroll in the Irish countryside and couldn't keep up with the others because I had to stop and photograph all manner of nice little things, such as this bumblebee visiting a blackberry flower.
The focus isn't quite right, but I like it enough anyway to share.

Wow! Kudos to #KindlingCollective for hosting this event! Giving back to those who give so much!
#BelfastME - Kindling Collective Rest and Recharge Fall
October 10, 2026
"About this trip:
Rest and Recharge is an event for folks who take part in #CommunityCare work who are looking for rest and connection.
KC is committed to creating programming that is responsive to our community. We’ve heard from folks who are deep in local community care work that they are exhausted, overwhelmed and struggle to find time to rest. In collaboration with #MCHT , we put together two day events inviting organizers to be with the land and seek rest/play. Join us for the second of these events on October 10th in the Belfast area (specific location provided after registration). #DanielleArroyo and #DaeneKugel will hold this space and offer a guided #NatureWalk and optional #crafting projects. Music and vibes courtesy of Kafari. Lunch will be provided.
Who is a community care worker?
Someone who spends time doing work (for pay or not) that supports the people in our community who need it most. This includes but is not limited to:
- #MutualAid / food delivery / #cooking & shopping for folks / #farming & #FoodSovereignty
- #StreetMedicine
- #Doula / #DeathDoula / #GriefWorker
- #Policy / #advocacy work / #LegalSupport
#CommunityDefense / #documenting law enforcement
- #SocialWork / #CaseManagement
- Community based health care
- #Elders / #KnowledgeHolders / #storytellers "This event is for Queer / BIPOC participants only!
"Queer events are designed as an affinity spaces for queer and trans people of all racial identities. If you think you might be queer or trans, you are queer enough. While we love our allies and advocates, if you’re not queer, don’t come to these events.
BIPOC events are for Black, Indigenous, and people of color of all genders and sexualities. If you’re not BIPOC, do not attend these events!"

Sometimes I look at my cat and get jealous. Not because he sleeps 18 hours a day (okay, maybe a little), but because he's a master of the present moment.
No vet worries. No regret over yesterday's shattered glass. Just sunbeam. exist. purr.
I try to mimic him. Sit in the grass. Feel the dirt. Listen to the wind.
Then I sneeze from pollen, and he gives me that look. "Pathetic human."
At least I tried. Go touch some grass today. Literally.

Who We Are
#SpecialBirdService (SBS) creates #inclusive and restorative pathways into nature, with a focus on birding, experiential education, and community care.
#Birding and #OutdoorEducation have historically been dominated by white, colonial norms that have excluded and marginalized Global Majority communities. We hold space intentionally to challenge those histories and to support belonging, healing, and relationship-building in nature.
Our work is grounded in:
Ecological stewardship
Mental health advocacy
Anti-racism and equity
Generational knowledge sharing
Community-led care and accountability* This event is part of Special Bird Service’s monthly #BirdingBeyondBarriers series; a collaboration with Nocs Provisions designed to make community-driven birding more #accessible with a focus on deep observation, curiosity and connection. Each walk will highlight different target species and ecosystems throughout the year. Heads up! April 4th 👉 #VictoriaBC & area folks! Fun #Spring #MigratoryBirds #birding event!
Come out & enjoy a lovely outdoors community connecting with nature event!
I'm going to be there with my Indigenous friend, Jada.Migratory Magnificence : #Camas Meadow Medley.
Join #SNEMITIYE Dominque James & #SpecialBirdService for a springtime Camas Meadow Medley at #CattlePoint and #UplandsPark.
Early April marks one of the most vibrant seasonal shifts on southern Vancouver Island. Camas meadows begin to wake, early wildflowers emerge, and the sharp metallic buzz of Rufous Hummingbirds returns to the landscape.
These small but fierce migrants travel thousands of kilometres each year, arriving along the coast just as nectar sources begin to bloom. Their presence signals the true beginning of spring.
Together we will explore the Garry oak ecosystem and coastal meadows of Uplands Park, learning how to notice hummingbird behaviour, listen for territorial calls, and observe feeding patterns among early blossoms.
This is not a fast-paced checklist focused walk. It’s an opportunity to slow down and tune into the rhythms of spring migration.
Open to all who agree to abide by the Cormorant's Creed. No birding experience required.

A quiet woodland trail stretches beneath a vivid blue sky, with leafless trees creating a peaceful #ScenicView along the countryside paths. Located near Altrincham in England, the area offers a classic #NatureWalk through the serene #WoodlandTrail of Dunham Massey, a popular National Trust property. The grassy clearings and scattered young trees contrast with the denser forest beyond, inviting slow exploration. Ideal for a tranquil escape, the #Countryside setting blends open skies with the gentle rhythm of nature.
