I consider #LinkedIn to be built on toxic assumptions.
What would a federated professional network companion/overlay look like?
Some clear API for job opportunities and seeking.
Some clear “see you at this upcoming conference” mechanism.
Perhaps some “watch my talk here”.
Some tasteful profile about your work/company.
And so on.
Luckily, I don’t have time to invest in this beyond sharing the idea and patiently waiting for the results.
