Why do I keep checking Humble Bundle for new book bundles when a) I haven't read the vast majority of books that I've already bought and b) they're so frequently disappointing because there's an increasing amount of GenAI bullshit in there? 😕
(The obvious answer is "in case there's another Black Library bundle… and it actually has NEW stuff")

On the one hand, I enjoy reading all the Warhammer eBooks that I've got.
On the other hand, do I *actually* ENJOY reading them or is it just a familiar and comfortable world and I like feeling that I now know more about it? 🫤

I find myself seriously considering eReading for the first time so I can continue reading the Horus Heresy and rereading Gaunt's Ghosts (and let's be honest there will be more). Can anyone recommend any devices?

I've been reading "Legends of the Dark Millennium: Astra Militarum" and now "Cadia Stands" and enjoying the stories. Especially Creed. The "down-and-dirty humanity and practicality" GrimDark while everyone around them is trying to be "correctly bureaucratic" GrimDark is great.
The Imperial Guard novels are so much better overall than the Space Marine novels. And I don't think it's just the authors.
(The Warhammer novels are better still, though)

Why has Games Workshop not done a Black Library bundle on Humble for a while? I feel like I've not been able to buy cheap Warhammer ebooks for AGES!

It feels like ages since Games Workshop did a Black Library ebook bundle on Humble Bundle. They should do more cheap ebooks!

I'm currently reading the "Sons of the Emperor" anthology, because some of the Primarch novels were quite interesting.
So far it seems like Vulkan is a decent person, Perturabo is a complete dick, and Khârn is far more coherent than I expected!

Finished reading the new novel "Fulgrim - the perfect son" and .. whew ... NOT a pleasant experience. I do NOT recommend it to any Emperor's Children fans.
The Codex reads way more sensual and cool than this.
I wrote a lengthy, very personal essay about it.

Finished "Path of the Dark Eldar", and quite enjoyed it. They're not just impractical spiky bits and scantily clad women! More interesting than I remember them being when they first came out for 3rd Ed.
And it's a good counterpoint to the Path of the Eldar series.

So I've finished "The End and the Death Vol II" and overall enjoyed it.
But then, it also a line: while not necessarily THE dumbest line in a Warhammer book, is pretty far up there! (I'll spoiler the line in a reply to this post).

Okay since I finished reading First and Only, I think I decided on my next 40K book: I'm going to read the Night Lords omnibus. Literally every lore-tuber loves these books and keeps recommending them, so I might as well.
In the meantime, I realized I should probably write down somewhere what Warhammer books I've already read, and what I thought of them, before I start forgetting.
Also, a question: do you know of any good 40K books to make me not hate the Eldar? :blobfoxangrylaugh: they're almost always portrayed as hilariously inept arrogant incommunicative morons that only make everything worse for everyone, even themselves. I'd like some story where they can at least look cool for a bit.

It's been so long since we Emperor's Children-fans got any good novels. Since I loved his short story, I am looking forward to "Lord of Excess" very much.
Let's hope it's not a total letdown (read: absolute shitshow) like "Genefather" was last year.
