  1. Been really enjoying the EFHW antenna for sure! I'm coloring the markers by band now, 'cause that seems way more interesting. I'm especially happy to get Nova Scotia this weekend!

    Red=80m Green=40m Blue=20m Purple=17m

  2. Nightshift for #POTA DE-0192 at Easter. #80m, #60m and #40m #FT8. 32 QSO in the end. We're all tired now.
    Thanks hunters!

  3. Night shift from 0300 to 0600 UTC for #POTA #80m, #60m and #30m.
Many U.S. and Anguilla as an #atno. 56 QSO.
    Thanks hunters!

  4. Got up very early this morning to activate #POTA DE-0192 while it was dark. 53 QSO between moon setting and sunrise. On #80m I could not DX due to an antenna connector not being plugged in correctly. Better stuff on #60m and #30m.
Worked US, St. Barthelemy and Guinea Bissau on 60m, Guyana as #atno plus New Zealand on 30m.
    Thanks hunters!

  5. Just worked ZL7DX in Chatham Island (Gridsquare: AE16 / distance: 18966 km) on #80m using FT8 #hamr #wavelog #dx

  6. Just worked XU7O in Cambodia 🇰🇭 (Gridsquare: OK21 / distance: 9250.2 km) on #80m using #FT8 #hamr #wavelog #dx #hamradio

  7. Fog plus very fine drizzle were the weather conditions of my first #POTA activation for weeks. This time I worked DE-0192 on #80m #60m and #30m #FT8. 51 QSO in the log.
    Thanks hunters!
Now for some hot tea. 🫖

  8. Oha!

  9. #POTA late shift yesterday night. #80m, #60m and #30m, SSB and FT8.
Ended with 80 QSO around Europe and Africa. Thanks chasers!

  10. This Icom 746 can tune almost anything, I got it to tune my #EFHW8010 for #160m / #FT8 (which is surprising, consider I sometimes have trouble tuning #40m and #80m with it, heh, probably because I had to splice it back together at some point and probably lost a little bit in length)

I've heard the phrase, "my tuner could tune a coat hanger"

I might need to try that 😂 with this, lol

  11. New Award for the #80m "senior" band.
    (German 'Altherrenband'). 🤠

  12. Up the hill again today. Much work to build up the #80m #60m inverted vee, but only very few QSO on those bands.

  13. @DD3AH
Zumindest im Wahlkampf hat der nur auf dem #80m-Band gefunkt.

  14. Question to my followers - Is there a #packet #packetradio net on #80m or #15m , using #FX25 or #IL2P ? (My german license class E is not allowed to use #20m or #40m where most packet traffic happens)

  15. Question to my followers - Is there a #packet #packetradio net on #80m or #15m , using #FX25 or #IL2P ? (My german license class E is not allowed to use #20m or #40m where most packet traffic happens)

  17. Just worked JF1FSR in Japan 🇯🇵 (Gridsquare: PM95 / distance: 10586 km) on 80m using FT8 #hamr #wavelog #80m #FT8 #Japan

  18. and they confirmed on #LoTW 😍

    Now I have #WAS on #80m #40m #30m #20m #17m #15m and #10m 👀

I just need to finish off #12m WAS for the U.S., and if I get the right antenna setup soon, I'll try for #6m too

  19. Well… seems #DRM based #SSTV does not like #80m static crashes…

My attempt at receiving a DRM signal via a SDR in northern NSW on #3633kHz.

  20. Note to self…

    - 802.1Q VLANs… don't just check what untagged VLAN members, check the PVID too.
    - UniFi U6-LRs don't work if the Ethernet cable is sitting 5mm out of the socket

On the plus side, my noise floor on #80m and #40m hasn't jumped back through the stratosphere when I plugged that cable back in.

  21. I'm going to have to work on my lower bands set-up. #80m and #40m used to be regular and frequent haunts for me years ago.

Just tried a short QSO on 3.595MHz… and I had to wind back to 10W just to keep the ALC under some semblance of control. Something's seriously out of whack there.

It's been many years since I did 80m actually, but back around 2008 ~ 2012, it was a weekly ritual.

Noise floor now is real bad… I remember it being S8~S9, but this is 10dB over… consistently.

A lot has changed since back then, so it's hard to pin down what might've caused this regression.

Suffice to say, I'm going to be buying a crapload of ferrite beads. Probably a bit of wandering around the house with a portable shortwave set and a loop antenna too.

  23. I recently discovered #HamAlert for #Android while searching the Google Playstore for a #pskreporter app

I've been able to set pretty granular search/triggers to see if/when #Alaska is on #80m / #FT8 and can be heard in here in #Ohio 😃

I know a desktop app exists, but I didn't know an Android app exists to do this

    play.google.com/store/apps/det

  24. @k0in good luck!

    I'm waiting to grab #Alaska on #80m / #FT8 soon. It's my last state on #80m

  25. @jlewallen oh no! yeah, that would be a rough start, but I'm glad you got it all fixed up

yeah, someday I'd like to pull off a #160m or #80m dipole

My EFHW is about 130ft-ish (40 meters) and when I bought it, they said it can "do #80m without a tuner" lol I have to use MFJ949E and even then it isn't perfect, heh
