Been really enjoying the EFHW antenna for sure! I'm coloring the markers by band now, 'cause that seems way more interesting. I'm especially happy to get Nova Scotia this weekend!
Red=80m Green=40m Blue=20m Purple=17m

Got up very early this morning to activate #POTA DE-0192 while it was dark. 53 QSO between moon setting and sunrise. On #80m I could not DX due to an antenna connector not being plugged in correctly. Better stuff on #60m and #30m.
Worked US, St. Barthelemy and Guinea Bissau on 60m, Guyana as #atno plus New Zealand on 30m.
Thanks hunters! -

Oha!
This Icom 746 can tune almost anything, I got it to tune my #EFHW8010 for #160m / #FT8 (which is surprising, consider I sometimes have trouble tuning #40m and #80m with it, heh, probably because I had to splice it back together at some point and probably lost a little bit in length)
I've heard the phrase, "my tuner could tune a coat hanger"
I might need to try that 😂 with this, lol

New Award for the #80m "senior" band.
(German 'Altherrenband'). 🤠 -

Note to self…
- 802.1Q VLANs… don't just check what untagged VLAN members, check the PVID too.
- UniFi U6-LRs don't work if the Ethernet cable is sitting 5mm out of the socketOn the plus side, my noise floor on #80m and #40m hasn't jumped back through the stratosphere when I plugged that cable back in.

I'm going to have to work on my lower bands set-up. #80m and #40m used to be regular and frequent haunts for me years ago.
Just tried a short QSO on 3.595MHz… and I had to wind back to 10W just to keep the ALC under some semblance of control. Something's seriously out of whack there.
It's been many years since I did 80m actually, but back around 2008 ~ 2012, it was a weekly ritual.
Noise floor now is real bad… I remember it being S8~S9, but this is 10dB over… consistently.
A lot has changed since back then, so it's hard to pin down what might've caused this regression.
Suffice to say, I'm going to be buying a crapload of ferrite beads. Probably a bit of wandering around the house with a portable shortwave set and a loop antenna too.

I recently discovered #HamAlert for #Android while searching the Google Playstore for a #pskreporter app
I've been able to set pretty granular search/triggers to see if/when #Alaska is on #80m / #FT8 and can be heard in here in #Ohio 😃
I know a desktop app exists, but I didn't know an Android app exists to do this

@jlewallen oh no! yeah, that would be a rough start, but I'm glad you got it all fixed up
yeah, someday I'd like to pull off a #160m or #80m dipole
My EFHW is about 130ft-ish (40 meters) and when I bought it, they said it can "do #80m without a tuner" lol I have to use MFJ949E and even then it isn't perfect, heh
