Well, it was such a nice day yesterday that I decided to put up the new EFHW antenna! Took a couple hours to get it in place and get it tuned up. It definitely works much better than I was expecting!

Managed to get the tune so I don't need to use any tuner at all on all bands that it supports! Everything is under 2:1 SWR and some are even nearly 1:1 which I really didn't expect!

The markers are color coded for the bands that I got contacts on. Green ones for 40 meters, orange ones for 30 meters, blue for 20 meters, cyan for 15 meters, and yellow for 10 meters!

I can definitely recommend this antenna ( myantennas.com EFHW ) without question.

Got up very early this morning to activate #POTA DE-0192 while it was dark. 53 QSO between moon setting and sunrise. On #80m I could not DX due to an antenna connector not being plugged in correctly. Better stuff on #60m and #30m.
Worked US, St. Barthelemy and Guinea Bissau on 60m, Guyana as #atno plus New Zealand on 30m.

#HamChallenge Week 44: Receive a QRSS signal on the HF bands

Inspired by an article in CQ DL (monthly magazine of DARC) I used now and then the software FSKview to monitor the #QRSS in the #30m band.

I definitely saw some QRSS signals (examples in the pictures below). However I find it very hard to visually decode these signals. I haven't yet decoded a call sign with certainty. Therefore I do not yet claim success for this challenge.

Fog plus very fine drizzle were the weather conditions of my first #POTA activation for weeks. This time I worked DE-0192 on #80m #60m and #30m #FT8. 51 QSO in the log.

@dcpatton yeah, I tried #30m and #12m they were dead, I can't access #60m sadly with my IC-746, BUT, I did have some luck on #17m 🙂

#Caritas received more than #30m for many excellent projects in #Luxembourg and abroad. However, 60m went missing in a fraud. It beggers belief, until that is your realise it is connected to the #catholicchurch

Worked DF4CEPALM on #30m. At first I thought this might be a fake, but it is registered regularly by german #BNetzA.

My plan today was to activate 2 SOTAs and beat the solar flare. On EA5/AT-090 I used an efhw, 20 m, and just the 4 W of my (tr)uSDX. On nearby EA5/AT-097 I planted an inverted V dipole and activated using 30 m CW and a bit of 20m SSB using 20 W. I managed! #sota #solarflare #cw #30m #20m

and I worked them on #30m / #FT8 too!

While on a #30m #CW #SOTA activation this morning, an F5*** calling station fires CQ out of the blue repeatedly without checking whether my frequency was available and wipes my correspondent away. It is only when I explicitly say “F5*** de EA5IYL QRL QRL” that he goes away. Later all, an IZ3*** station just repeatedly says his call sign, QRMing my QSO with a weak station (they probably didn't hear me). I decide to ignore them again and they go away. I was not expecting this on 30m CW, really.
