(Linux users close your ears)
I spent some time this weekend chasing a weird WSJT-X issue on a new Win11 machine.
With no signal from the radio, my waterfall is (was) super noisy and I couldn't understand why. I swapped radio, com ports, cables, just about everything I could think of.
There is a default Win 11 settings "Enable Audio Enhancement". Turning this OFF cleaned up the audio and fixed the issue.
Thanks to VK7HH for the tip.

Learning to use an RTL-SDR v4 has been on my bucket list for ages. Last week I finally started, tuned into FT8, and… ohhh myyy. 🤯
I'm amazed how it pulls in signals from soooo far away on nothing but the cheap stock antenna.
I was never a Pokémon kid, but now I have a strong urge to "catch 'em all" and fill in at least one Maidenhead grid.
Is that a thing?
Please tell me that this is a thing#noob #rtlsdr #FT8 #HamRadio #AmateurRadio #sdrpp #wsjtx #GridTracker

Digimode peeps...
Radio, original FT817 - iPad pro with USB C.
What do I need to play with FT8/4 etc?
Looking at Digirig. Currently reading a lot of guff... Hoping for pointers from those that have been through this.

Can my Solarham A99 CB antenna tune 6,10, 12, and 15 meters and make contacts? Oh heck yeah it can. #amateurradio #ft8

Another #hamradio #amateurradio #FT8 pileup during this morning's #pota #parksontheair activation. Lots of fun in this Sunday morning.

Been a couple of years since I played with some FT8. When it's less than 100F out, I'll relay down my radials and such but I think we're doing well with what's there. #amateurradio #ft8

It turns out that there are 2 different "message formats" and they may sometimes be incompatible. Regular FT8 messages as (WSJT-X, JTDX, FT8TW, etc.), except CQ, of course, contain both THEIRCALL and MYCALL. WSJT-CB messages except for TX2 and CQ (TX6) are anonymous (no MYCALL). Some programs like FT8TW do not decode anonymous messages such as "68CL308 -17" or "68CL308 RR73" (WSJT-X does but... no caller! Manual intervention needed). WSJT-CB does not support Maidenhead locators. #CB #FT8

This is FT8 activity on channel 26 of the Citizen's Band. This is what the microphone in my laptop captures now when my President Jack is on about 50 cm away from it.
Note the truncated format of some messages (one call sign only, whose?) , cut to fit CB-style call signs in the 72 bits of each FT8 frame.
When I'm on, I use an "impossible" ham call, 0L1VA, which does not need hashing.
I have the feeling more and more people are FT8'ing on the CB.

A change of pace #amateurradio #hamradio #pota #parksontheair activation with some #wsjtx #FT8 action. They are keeping me busy.
