A friend in the building invited me to have a couple beers to celebrate somebody who had passed away, but I falsely said I have school in the morning because I didn't want to explain that I don't drink anymore except holidays and when I take vacations in North Carolina a few times a year. Also I'm just very uncomfortable with social situations so I'd probably just sit there silent.

My first paper went well today. Unlike my classmates, my professor was literally like "I don't have any notes to give you beyond small grammar I'm not too concerned about, you did a good job" and then started telling me specific things he really liked like the amount of detailed examples I gave.
I finished writing the paper, with his approval over the final two paragraphs, by like halfway through class and just kind of sat around making finicky edits to kill time while he helped the other two students who were still working on their papers.

I realized that this October I somehow hadn't done a single Charles Band-produced film despite my love of Full Moon and Empire. So I'm making up for it by finally watching one of the few films I've never seen by one of my favorite directors: Stuart Gordon's Dolls.

I had a close friend who is really shitty about nonbinary people and has been for years, we had a bit of a falling out after I called him out on it regarding a friend of ours (not even myself, though he was really shitty to me when I came out to him too) for refusing to use their preferred pronouns and even mocking the entire concept of not being male or female. After that, we just quit talking regularly and eventually I built up enough self-respect that I quietly blocked him on social media without saying a word and purposefully did not give him my new phone number when I switched carriers.
Expelling toxic people who don't accept you for who and what you are is ALWAYS the right choice. If their heart changes later, you can reconsider, but until then you don't need to subject yourself to fuckheads.

I haven't written a college paper since I was probably about 25, back when I used to make a bit of beer money for sometimes churning them out for student friends despite being a dropout myself, so I'm pretty pleased it only took about an hour out of my day to pop out about 3 pages for my first paper of my own college experience today. Will still have to do a couple more in class this week and still need to proof and edit in the morning before I turn in these body paragraphs but it is was a pretty smooth and easy start.

It has been a Mission of Burma morning. I finished listening to one of their late 00s post-reunion records which are all pretty great and then I decided to listen to their first live album from post-breakup which is REALLY well recorded for a live mid-80s indie rock album.

Strangeland is real bad, but in a way that is very enjoyable. Dee Snider's scenery chewing pseudointellectual monologues are so much fun and Robert Englund shows that nobody can chew more scenery than he can. Also, the 90s tech culture stuff is cringe in the best way like explaining what "IM" means.
