  1. @adrianco I decided to take this advice, but I took a leadership point of view and brought it up to the entire team instead of just my boss.

In our morning status when we got to the parking lot I asked the team if I could show some vulnerability for a minute. That this was hard for me to bring up, but I have a hearing disability, and use CC heavily. That it gets stuff wrong all the time, and if everyone could please be patient if you say my name and I don't answer right away, because I am reading CC.

This was scary for me. I did this at my last job and everyone got silent and the whole thing got uncomfortable. One particular person blocked me from being given admin. It was a nightmare.

But here, I got heart emojis from the team. People started troubleshooting how to help me in big meetings, the Director was on and also spoke up to ask for me to also be patient with them when they forget, but they are all here to support.

  6. @adrianco @Di4na @norootcause Observing each other from the inside is where we build relationships. Practice together is a method of doing that.

I have led these types of practice sessions at four different companies. We focus on Regular Work, not near misses. I'm giving a special version of this session next month to help demonstrate the idea of Practice of Practice.

  11. @adrianco your drawing and writing look similar to mine :-) (apple pencil, but concepts app. I like it, but looks like they are not paying attention to details in the UX anymore ). I can write legibly now, if I slow down. The salesperson in the local apple store (2016) said "it can recognize your handwriting" me: "no way". #Nebo gave me the kind of feedback I needed to improve (I only use it to draft out blog posts if handwriting is the way to get something out. clunky in drawing) @RuthMalan

  14. Forget the racism, Hillsborough, stuff like that....what truly broke Adrian's mind (this week) was seeing a Peregrine Falcon take out a pigeon, apparently a task that the Football club has employed the bird with.

A classic of the genre, his wife is somebody pretty high up in the Guardian I believe....

  15. @adrianco
The biggest one from a classical HPC PoV is that it omits #AMX.

I could justify excluding it (to myself) because it's undocumented, but it's also one of the core platform features from a compute PoV. It's the only way to get competent DGEMM on apple silicon (The ANE maxes out at 32 bit fixed point, GPU is 32 bit Floats)

(the follow up piece is partially why I built and tested a DGEMM benchmark the other week for apple silicon, crowd sourced results here: github.com/FCLC/AdvancedCiderX)

  16. @adrianco that’s probably the best news all night.

There was a video of Rees-Mogg at 12 talking about stocks and how he liked money. It appears to haven been cleansed from the mediaverse. This version from the French National Archives gives an excllent perspective.

He used to be driven to school with a chauffeur in a Rolls-Royce. What sort of grounding is that?! 😱

  17. Hi!

I'm Adrian, a FullStack #Developer looking for a job either in #Québec (or from it if you allow for remote work). I already have a permanent and open visa

I have experience building and maintaining web apps and APIs, designing systems, doing #DevOps and a bit of #BigData, #MachineLearning and #IoT

    I'm experienced using #Elixir, #Phoenix, #LiveView, #NodeJS, #TypeScript, #Fastify, #Express and #Python ; and on the DevOps side in CI/CD pipelines (either #GithubActions and Gitlab CI/CD), #Docker and a bit of #Kubernetes

I was tasked with a lot of the #innovation happening in my previous company, researching tools, librairies, patterns or general technologies either for our own #DeveloperExperience or for our products

I also wrote a lot of technical and non technical documentation and internal presentations, and even participated in a few meetups. You can read some of my writing on my blog: blog.adrianc.eu

You might also have seen me on a few Elixir-related Discord servers, or even Bluesky (@adrianc.eu) and Twitter ; either sharing tech news, helping people, reading in book clubs or just chatting

I’m open to full-time right now, contracting work can be discussed.

I'm looking for any developer position, not only #ElixirLang, even though it represents most of my experience. And if the technology you're using isn't on my resume, give me a chance! I'm a fast learner and I might anyway have studied it in class :P

DM me for more info, like github link, my resume or anything :)

Boosts, responses and DM welcome, of course!

EDIT: I already have a visa, it was not super clear before 😅

  22. (someone told me to post in French too so here it is!)

    Bonjour !

DM me for more info, like github link, my resume or anything :)

    Boosts, réponses et DM bienvenus!

  23. I made my boozy Xmas cake tonight. I posted the recipe last year. It’s #gluten and #lactose free. Yesterday I used up all the dried fruit I could find in the pantry, whatever unsalted nuts seemed appropriate and various leftover dregs of rum, brandy etc. so I could chuck bottles away. Soaked overnight. Today I mixed and baked the cake. I had too much fruit, so I saved half and will experiment with Xmas pudding in a few days. adrianco.medium.com/adrians-re

  24. @adrianco power outages have become extremely rare in our area. Fewer than once a year, but were more common ten years ago.

Love the idea of whole home battery backup, but can’t currently justify the cost of that, plus solar. We don’t qualify for any incentives either. 😬

Did you find the powerwall technology to be the only option?

I’d really have trouble trusting the #ChiefTwit with being truthful about anything these days.
