So I got a #pixel7 for the purpose of running #GraphenOS. I used it for a while without the google play stuff and I am pretty sure it was able to get three days of battery quite easily. That did come with the downside of some apps not having their notifications work as well.

@Techaltar @dalan Following up on the "scroll past on #youtube to watch on #nebula" topic - I'd love to see a browser extension/ #revanced patch/etc. that automatically marked videos watched on YT, and maybe even gave them a thumbs up.
It could be either when I watch the same video on nebula, or simpler, just as soon as the video appears on the YT channel/playlist (on the assumption I will watch it on nebula).
I want to both support the creator and train YT to recommend more like it to me.

I do not know how you can try it out.You can buy it from their website I guess, or if you do not have the funding maybe contact the #TiltFive company for a temporary test model for review...? 🤷

I can only emphasize how valuable it is to have such independent research from #Frauenhofer. It is really hard to look behind the shiny sustainability reports of Apple or Google. The important numbers are often missing. Greenpeace, Ökotest, Ecosia and Ethicalconsumer.org evaluate these reports, but they are often outdated before they are even published...

If tech stacks can be weaponized or alliances destabilized, the question isn’t whether we’ll take sovereignty seriously, but who gets to define it.@Techaltar post hits the nerve: states guard borders and currencies, yet outsource the foundations of modern life—software, hardware, and data—to a handful of corporate monopolies. That’s not just technical risk; it’s political dependence.
Sovereignty today isn’t about flags or treaties. It’s control over protocols, algorithms, and the tools that shape how societies think and act. FLOSS and open hardware aren’t ideological luxuries—they’re the only credible path to digital self-determination.
Relying on closed, proprietary stacks means sovereignty on lease. When platforms can silence nations, throttle access, or hide backdoors, sovereignty becomes a slogan, not a system.
Institutions rarely lead change; they react when crises force the issue. Real transformation starts bottom-up—from a culture that values curiosity over convenience, and commons over consumption.
So what does it mean to take sovereignty seriously?
1. Treat open technology as public infrastructure.
Fund FLOSS and open hardware like we fund roads and clinics—stable, public investment. Tools like open-source procurement mandates, R&D tax credits, and redirecting portions of defense or digital transition budgets can anchor this shift.
But funding is not ownership: transparency laws and community-led governance must ensure open projects don’t become state surveillance tools.2. Make tech literacy a civic right.
Sovereignty requires a public that understands the tools it depends on—not just code, but critical thinking about systems, incentives, and control. Tech education should be public, accessible, and lifelong.3. Build alternatives, not only critiques.
The Fediverse, RISC-V, Framework, and Fairphone aren’t fringe—they prove ethical, functional alternatives exist. The goal isn’t purity; it’s adoption. Use and fund the systems you want to survive.4. Recognize that openness ≠ isolation.
Open-source is interdependence under shared, auditable terms. Supporting open-source hubs in the Global South and funding translation, localization, and inclusive participation ensures sovereignty isn’t just for wealthy nations.Regulation like the GDPR is a start, but true sovereignty means owning the stack, not patching around its edges.
The US’s geopolitical games may hasten this reckoning, but waiting guarantees dependency. Treat open-source as critical infrastructure now—not for ideology’s sake, but survival’s.
Because digital sovereignty isn’t a speech or a policy.

Nothing twierdzi, że magnesy w Androidzie kosztują 10 mln dolarów. Konsorcjum Qi2 odpowiada: „Chyba nie rozumiecie”
Niemal całkowita nieobecność magnetycznego ładowania w standardzie Qi2 w telefonach z Androidem od dawna zastanawiała użytkowników. Przełomem okazała się dopiero premiera serii Pixel 10. Dlaczego trwało to tak długo? Nothing dało odpowiedź na to pytanie, problem w tym, że… minęli się z prawdą.
O co dokładnie chodzi? Otóż w kontekście wdrożenia Qi2 na urządzenia z Androidem, firma Nothing zasugerowała niedawno, że barierą jest absurdalna cena. Otóż według Nothing szacowany koszt wdrożenia Qi2 to około 10 milionów dolarów. Krótko: mocno przesadzili z tym oszacowaniem. Poniżej wyjaśnienie o co tak naprawdę chodzi z tym Qi2 na platformie Android.
Apple prezentuje nową ładowarkę MagSafe z certyfikatem Qi2 25W
Firma Nothing w swoim niedawnym materiale wideo stwierdziła, że tak wysoki koszt wynika z faktu, iż „konfiguracje magnesów, które optymalnie wspierają ładowarki kompatybilne z Apple, są opatentowane i ograniczone”. Sugestia była jasna: to wina Apple. Jednak już na pierwszy rzut oka wydaje się to błędne, ponieważ standard Qi2 (opracowany m.in. na bazie MagSafe, ale jako standard otwarty) sam w sobie zawiera specyfikację układu magnesów.
Zresztą, do sprawy odniosło się gremium chyba najbardziej kompetentne w omawianej tu kwestii: Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). WPC to organizacja zarządzająca standardem Qi2. W oświadczeniu dla serwisu TechAltar, WPC potwierdziło, że twierdzenie Nothing jest „prawdopodobnie niepoprawne” i firma „może nie rozumieć sytuacji”. Powód jest prosty: Nothing nie jest członkiem WPC, w przeciwieństwie do Google, HMD (Nokia) czy Samsunga. Bycie członkiem daje dostęp do pełnej specyfikacji i korzystnych warunków licencyjnych.
Ile więc naprawdę kosztuje dostęp do technologii Qi2? Zamiast mitycznych 10 milionów, roczny koszt członkostwa w WPC to łącznie 30 000 dolarów (w tym 10 000 dolarów „opłaty ekosystemowej”). Jest to kwota pomijalna dla producenta smartfonów tej skali.
Skąd więc wzięła się kwota 10 milionów dolarów? Dziennikarze spekulują, że Nothing prawdopodobnie pomyliło dwie różne rzeczy: wdrożenie otwartego standardu Qi2 z próbą uzyskania pełnej, szybkiej kompatybilności z oryginalnymi ładowarkami MagSafe od Apple. Te faktycznie są chronione i ograniczają moc ładowania dla urządzeń innych niż iPhone. Tyle tylko, że w 2025 roku, przy prężnie rozwijającym się ekosystemie akcesoriów Qi2 (dla wszystkich, w tym Pixela 10), jest to działanie całkowicie pozbawione sensu.
