I signed up to Nebula via the Curiosity Stream bundle last year.

I knew that the two services were no longer bundled this year.

What I hadn't done is gone to check what the renewal date was.

Curiosity Stream rebilled my annual plan; but at no point in the year did they tell me themselves that Nebula was not available, nor did they issue the expected advance notice of the rebilling, not did they send me notice that they had rebilled.

It really feels like this was a deliberate move to extract one more billing cycle out of a customer, under false pretenses.

OK, if disappointing. #Plex does include #CuriosityStream as a streaming service, but doesn't include #Nebula

I'm not sure what to make of services like Nebula offering a lifetime membership however. I'm not specifically opposed to them, however one of the benefits of having a renewing influx of cash is that you can plan around it. A One time lifetime payment ends up with a fair amount of cash 'right now', but no assurance that there will ever be any again in the future.

Anyone know a good alternative to Wondrium (Great Courses Plus)? The future of Wondrium seems bleak (purportedly laid off 75% of staff recently). I picked up a #CuriosityStream sub, but I would prefer university lectures. I'm not interested in certifications, full classes, etc. I just want the lectures. Looking for more academic subjects, like psychology, astronomy, and so on.

Would Coursera work? Their site is not super clear on pricing, especially for 1 person.

Anyone use Nebula.TV? If someone on there claims to be an expert, is there anything to back that up? Does the company verify their credentials or anything? Especially thinking academic subjects, not like someone who travels a lot being a travel expert, but more like a #religiousstudies or #psychology channel. From what I gather, #Nebula is basically #YouTube creators but supposedly only some of the better quality ones.

Currently bingeing PhilosophyTube on #YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@PhilosophyTube) and will be sad when I run out of existing content.

Abigail Thorn is smart and funny and British and talks about subjects in philosophy that interest me. Also when she talks about stuff that I know something about, she gets it right (which is saying something!). And she's written a play, ffs.

(Perhaps superficially but also notably, she's also a great counterexample to whatever chud said the other week that trans women have to "accept that they'll never be good-looking" or whatever it was, because whoa! Also apparently has an excellent fashion sense and/or a great staff in that regard.)

She's also one of the #Nebula / #CuriosityStream content creators, which would be nice except I still can't figure out how to find content on those or how they are related to each other or exactly which I'm a member of, which is a pity!

@Techaltar after hearing about #curiositystream and #nebula from you for years, I decided to go for it finally. Since I don’t celebrate Christmas, this give me a good long weekend digging into content. Thanks dude! Happy holidays!
