Sleeve status, all done in hand sewing since I chose linen thread much too thick to go through the sewing machine. Fortunately, I’ve become quite quick at it! Will speak as to my design/thread choices in a later post (short answer, Hayao Miyazaki was very specific about what technologies the society had access to and sewing machines weren’t one of them)! #sewing #cosplay #nausicaaofthevalleyofthewind #miyazaki

Sadly, my original sleeve plan didn’t work out— I’m using piecing to continue using my original sleeve cutout and it’s added a cool element to an otherwise plain sleeve! Image shows the wrong side of the fabric. The long and short of it is that with a curved armhole in the bodice, the gusset idea didn’t work due to the shapes bubbling out against the curved seam. #sewing #cosplay #nausicaaofthevalleyofthewind #ghibli

A few years ago I got me singing that la la lalala lala tune. I had no idea where it came from. It just came to my memory. I recalled some creatures with a lot of eyes and tentacles healing a girl. With the lyrics I couldn't find anything obviously. By searching for that scene I discovered that the title of what I remembering was "Nausicaa of the valley of the wind" and it was something I had scene when I was like 5-8 years old. After nearly 25 years it came back so strongly...
I had to share this moment now of all days with a movie that even though I've seen only once or twice when I was toddler it was so strong it stayed with me for many many years. Thank you #ghibli #Miyazaki and Haisashi for shaping me up as I am today :)
