I’m so grateful to have been able to debut the V1 of my “Princess” Nausicaä cosplay from “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” by Hayao Miyazaki. While this outfit was only featured in the film for two scenes, I’ve had it in my mind since I first saw the film a decade ago. This costume was exclusively handsewn by me and patterned by me, involving spherical and conical geometry for the hat and hours of work wrangling wool, linen, and buckram. Next year, I hope to have it fully finished according to the techniques and materials stated and shown in manga and film! 🩵🌱

Going back to working on my #nausicaaofthevalleyofthewind #ghibli tunic! Will be finessing the sleeve pattern to fit the vision below; the flight tunic features a tapered sleeve with more fullness at the shoulder, but the prophecy tunic sleeve is very close to uniform with no taper. Might even go with a rectangular pattern with a gusset under the arm? There is no visual reference to a seam in that location, but I would be willing to do this for a reliable fit. #sewing #cosplay

Dzisiejszy wieczór minął pod znakiem seansu kinowego Nausicaä z Doliny Wiatru. Uwielbiam twórczość studia #Ghibli ale przyznam, że ten tytuł oglądałem po raz pierwszy. Dobrze spędzony czas, szczególnie, że kocham te ręcznie rysowane kadry ♥️ Świetnie, że wreszcie w kinach można obejrzeć takie klasyki.
Mam tylko jedną uwagę – tłumaczenie było naprawdę kiepskie. Sporo tekstów w ogóle nie miało sensu 😔
Może już zauważyliście, że mam fioła na punkcie aktorów głosowych. No to fun fact – głos Obaba z Nausicaä to nie kto inny jak Hisako Kyoda. Wiecie kogo jeszcze owa Pani grała? Otóż Tuskur, babcię Eruruu i Aruruu w #Utawarwrumono #PreludeToTheFallen 😂

A few years ago I got me singing that la la lalala lala tune. I had no idea where it came from. It just came to my memory. I recalled some creatures with a lot of eyes and tentacles healing a girl. With the lyrics I couldn't find anything obviously. By searching for that scene I discovered that the title of what I remembering was "Nausicaa of the valley of the wind" and it was something I had scene when I was like 5-8 years old. After nearly 25 years it came back so strongly...
I had to share this moment now of all days with a movie that even though I've seen only once or twice when I was toddler it was so strong it stayed with me for many many years. Thank you #ghibli #Miyazaki and Haisashi for shaping me up as I am today :)
