Please tell me this bit got at least a chuckle in Japan because the cinema I was in was dead 💀 #ShinKamenRider #NickFurysMundaneHalloween (image is a scene from Shin Kamen Rider)

#ShinKamenRider: Hideaki Anno continues his deconstruction of classic Japanese superheroes with this much darker, street-level counterpart to Shin Ultraman.

OK I spoke too soon about #ShinKamenRider, I actually like it quite a bit. But it definitely adheres to the source material a bit too much for my liking and it's generally very hard to approach with the wacky special effects and episodic pacing. Once you get into the groove of the style though the strength of the characters and story start to reveal themselves and by the end I was very happy with the movie. #film #tokusatsu

I started watching #ShinKamenRider (2023 film) and 40 minutes in I'm pretty lukewarm on it. It's fun to look at some of the time, but the editing can be jarring and doesn't flow well in the action scenes. The campy special effects are also a bit distracting, more so than in Anno's Godzilla or Ultraman. (cntd.)

Just watched #ShinKamenRider and thought it was okay. Not bad, but certainly my least favourite of the "Shin" movies. For everybody who want to get a first taste of the masked rider, I still have to recommend the 90s Flick KAMEN RIDER ZO, which is also free available on the toei youtube channel.

I'm about halfway through Shin Kamen Rider it's pretty cool and kinda cheesy but it's expected with these Japanese movies. I mean they can't all be the masterpiece that Casshern was 🥲

For tonight's Quarantine Control on @damagecontrolblog I wrote about the Invincible: Atom Eve special. Please be sure to check out @Dio_Senrab's write up of Shin Kamen Rider. CWTyger also shared a bunch of short films he's recommended. Watching Shin Kamen Rider is causing me to rewatch Kamen Rider Black Sun btw. Trying to get back to more structured writing - if you plug in the link to your fedi client/dash, you can interact with it like a fedi post. #tokusatsu #ShinKamenRider #KamenRider #movies #MOACme

You know, by this third (live action*) Shin Japan movie, I'm just going to call it the Tachibana-san Cinematic Universe. #ShinKamenRider #KamenRider

#ShinKamenRider #シン仮面ライダー was amazing! It didn’t follow the original manga arc so I have to do some research on what it was based on. Will definitely be getting it on Blu-ray and digital.

About to see #ShinKamenRider at #RegalMovieTheaters in a few minutes.

Will let everyone know how it was in a few minutes.

Finished him just in time to see the movie tomorrow!

despite checking ticket sites at 12:30a last night I did not manage to get tickets to see #ShinKamenRider 😔 so I am settling for watching #ShinGodzilla (again)

It's been 1.5 months since I watched #shinkamenrider and I have come to the follow conclusions:

1. It was not a good movie, no matter how you see it.

2. Hideaki Anno is not good at live-action because he directs it like an anime film - he lacks planning skills for it.

3. The entire movie was a huge fan-service to himself and the ultra-diehard fans. Just look at all the pictures and cuts they left out of the final movie on their twitter account: https://twitter.com/Shin_KR

Shin Kamen Rider is coming...

If you liked #ShinGodzilla you will love #ShinUltraman. At its core, Shin Ultraman is a story about the beauty and fragility of humanity as well as a reflection on mortality. I love the classic soundtrack and the vibrant, unusual #kaiju designs. The eccentric cinematography also sets it apart from other #movies dealing in similar subject matter. I'm so glad that #HideakiAnno is finally done with Eva so he can bring his creative vision to these classic properties. Can't wait for #ShinKamenRider!
