That was probably meant as a joke, but a good #SoundDesigner can make an entire track from nothing but one short #VocalSample, and you'd never know it.The human voice has lots of great #textures and #harmonics that easily lend themselves to #SoundDesign techniques like #GranularSynthesis and #resampling. Add in a healthy dose of the usual effects (like #reverb, #delay, #chorus, #distortion, #repitch, etc.), and the possibilities are nearly limitless.
Sorry for the info dump; Sound design is one of my lifelong passions, and I can't help chiming in when someone brings up audio #sampling. I hope you at least found it somewhat interesting. 😅

I learned about an innovation in that they use part of samples to estimate certain parameters needed for a large deviation bound. It's like #Hoefding's inequality on wheels.I know of the #BCa (biased corrected accelerated) #bootstrap method for assigning confidence intervals to #statistical estimations. Here a round of resampling is used to estimate two parameters to correct bias and accelerate sample efficiency in pinning down the accurate confidence interval.
What are other methods where you sample to get information about what to sample subsequently?

La Relatrice speciale ONU sull’indipendenza di giudici e avvocati, Margaret Satterthwaite, ha inviato il 23 ottobre 2025 una lettera ufficiale al governo italiano esprimendo forti preoccupazioni sulla riforma costituzionale della giustizia (cosiddetta riforma nordio), che modifica gli articoli 102, 104 e 105 della Costituzione.
Secondo Satterthwaite, la separazione delle carriere, la creazione di due CSM distinti, il sorteggio dei membri e l’istituzione di una Alta Corte disciplinare comportano rischi seri per l’indipendenza della magistratura.
In particolare, la fine dell’unità della magistratura potrebbe indebolire il pubblico ministero ed esporlo a pressioni politiche e l’Alta Corte disciplinare che giudica anche in appello senza ricorso in Cassazione potrebbe violare il diritto a un controllo indipendente, contrario agli standard internazionali.
La Relatrice chiedeva al governo italiano chiarimenti e informazioni aggiuntive sulle criticità evidenziate;
spiegazioni su come la riforma rispetti gli obblighi internazionali, in particolare il diritto al giusto processo e al giudice indipendente;
indicazioni sulle misure adottate per riesaminare la riforma alla luce delle osservazioni ONU.Nelle conclusioni, Satterthwaite invitava a un attento riesame degli emendamenti costituzionali affinché rafforzino, e non indeboliscano, l’indipendenza della magistratura, offrendo anche dialogo tecnico e supporto al governo.
Il messaggio finale è un richiamo istituzionale forte: senza una giurisdizione autonoma e indipendente non esiste una democrazia viva, e ogni riforma della giustizia è credibile solo se tutela questo principio fondamentale.
Questa riforma è pericolosa.
