Oh yeah: If your eyes wandered off to the right to 'Channels' toggles, the six audio channels are identified as "surround" only because Spectralayers. What the file itself contains, there's one channel for engine and five for alternate exhaust sounds.

This so that once I run the Crankcase Rev remapper on a bunch of such files, I get all the alternates processed on single go. For rendering final mono ramps there's a very special Reaper project :)

One other editing task is for exhaust ramps with a lot of backfire pops on them (think "gunshots"). These show up as strong vertical lines.

The harmonics tool makes it a breeze to isolate a sweeping frequency. I then invert the selection and run eraser tool along the freq, to mildly attenuate surrounding freqs.

The pops can throw off pitch tracking of Crankcase Rev. So this treatment helps with that. No meaningful audible change ofc :)

Hmmm... I have an old Lenovo Y70 that won't take Windows 11. I've been thinking of installing Linux, but I'm worried about losing the use of my secondary Nvidia GeForce graphics card, which speeds up the processing of videos significantly.

It seems I can keep my OpenShot video editor, but would have to find a replacement for the Studio One audio editor.
