I lived in Brooklyn (Pratt) from 1980-83. Back then, we said "May Day is Jay Day." we would congregate in Washington Square Park in the Village, the Yippies would pass out joints, and we would walk up 5th Avenue smoking them. (with a police escort!) We always stopped at Trump Tower to give the owner a one finger salute.

The stone was warm against his lower back, comforting, like the supportive touch of a lover’s hand. He allowed himself to relax into it; let all the morning’s stress leave his body; muscles unknotting, heartbeat slowing; deep breaths filling his lungs to capacity with the moisture-laden mountaintop air.
