📍Zine #1: Community Struggle and Political Repression in Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón. The Case of Miguel Peralta Betanzos (2017):This conflict has always been complicated and difficult for many of us to understand. Communal forms of organization were present that not all of us knew or understood. The existence of a struggle over community resources. The legacy of Magón. Different family members have been involved in the conflict. Above all, the evident division of the people between the representative authorities of the state and the community assembly.
It was difficult to analyze all of this from the outside, with little information and with some doubt: What would an anarchist have to do with a conflict that could be reduced simply to an electoral dispute? Soon we began to unravel the situation and something was becoming more and more clear: there was one side, the state, putting to use its repressive resources against the community assembly.
Thus, the reduction of the conflict to an electoral dispute pointed to something much larger: the struggle of the people and the community assembly was not for the mere presence of a “false” municipal president. It was rather for the autonomy of the people and the strategies they developed to maintain themselves outside of the state.

In this collection you will also find writings we have produced as a solidarity group in our experience accompanying Miguel, as well as writings from other prisoners and collectives engaged in the struggle against captivity. With love and solidarity for our imprisoned compañerxs.

¿Sabían que la interpretación original sobre los relieves de la Galería de los Danzantes en Monte Albán, Oaxaca, ha cambiado de forma radical gracias a los estudios arqueológicos modernos?
Cuando los exploradores y los primeros investigadores llegaron a esta antigua ciudad zapoteca en el siglo XIX, observaron más de 300 lápidas de piedra con figuras humanas labradas en posiciones sumamente extrañas, contorsionadas y con los ojos cerrados o las bocas abiertas. Debido a estas posturas tan dinámicas y poco comunes, la gente de la época asumió de forma apresurada que las piedras representaban a un grupo de personas alegremente bailando o celebrando un ritual festivo, una idea equivocada que terminó dándole el nombre popular de los Danzantes a todo el edificio.
Sin embargo, las investigaciones científicas actuales y las excavaciones del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia han desmentido por completo la romántica teoría del baile tradicional. Los arqueólogos descubrieron que los relieves representan escenas crudas de poder y control político del periodo Preclásico Tardío, mostrando en su gran mayoría a cautivos de guerra y líderes de pueblos enemigos que fueron derrotados, capturados y despojados de sus ropas. Las extrañas posiciones del cuerpo, lejos de ser pasos de danza, son en realidad las posturas flácidas de los prisioneros tras haber sido sometidos a torturas, sacrificios rituales o mutilaciones físicas, sirviendo como una enorme galería pública diseñada por los gobernantes de Monte Albán para intimidar a sus adversarios y demostrar la fuerza militar de su urbe.
Los estudios de antropología física confirman de forma contundente que los personajes esculpidos son figuras masculinas desnudas, muchas de ellas con marcas explícitas de castración y flujos de sangre estilizados en la piedra, lo que descarta la presencia de cuerpos femeninos en el conjunto principal del Edificio L. Este hecho nos recuerda el valor de revisar las piezas arqueológicas con rigor científico, para entender la verdadera historia y las duras realidades de las culturas del México prehispánico.

🔴Why Does the Political Persecution Against Miguel Peralta Continue?
📍On February 20, 2026, the First Collegiate Court of Oaxaca officially recognized the falsity of the testimonies against Miguel, thereby acquitting him of all charges.
📍That ruling should have put an end to the political persecution against him. However, on June 12, 2026, we were notified that the case of Miguel has returned to the Supreme Court, as the court accepted a motion for review filed by the accusing party—the State Congresswoman Elisa Zepeda—against the ruling granting him absolute freedom. That ruling has now been “suspended” until the Supreme Court dictates a new ruling. Miguel’s case has thus been reopened, and the State persecution against him continues. The new ruling from the Supreme Court is expected sometime in 2027. The coming months are crucial to demand the court put an end once and for all to the persecution.
