Rain And Ruminations In The Ruins
The stone was warm against his lower back, comforting, like the supportive touch of a lover’s hand. He allowed himself to relax into it; let all the morning’s stress leave his body; muscles unknotting, heartbeat slowing; deep breaths filling his lungs to capacity with the moisture-laden mountaintop air. The sun had worked for the better part of ten hours to impart warmth to these ancient stone blocks.

My husband and I spent Feb 2022 in #Mexico, enjoying our much-delayed honeymoon. (Been together 18 years, married in the middle of the pandemic.) Here we are at #MonteAlban #Oaxaca. It’s an amazing place and we were told it was a rarity to have so few people on-site. The museums we closed due to the pandemic, so we didn’t get to see the amazing treasures of Tomb 7, which just means we have to go back!

@waterwatchman I'm no expert but it seems there is still much much to discover about #MonteAlban #Oaxaca including what the tunnels were for. The tour guide I went with at #Teotihuacan outside #MexicoCity said that site revealed (as well as one of earliest plumbing systems) tunnels that are still being excavated full of burial and other ceremonial chambers as well as water honouring practices. This would have been important also for #Maize crop production #Tunnels #Archaeology #Anthropology❤️
