I think I'm going to get a second #Fediverse account on #hometownmastodon. While I love #Firefish, there are too many issues with it. Broken search, poor network performance, and being unable to follow #PeerTube and some #WriteFreely accounts makes it hard to use it 100% of the time. Hometown should have most of what I want on top of a stable #Mastodon build. I especially like that you can read full blog posts in it since that's something I've always wanted to do.

So proud of myself! I was able to recover #email for a client that was stuck inside a .dbx file from #OutlookExpress. With nothing but a terminal on my #Linux box! She's going to be so happy! 😁

Lately I find that the whole concept of #PeerToPeer vs #ClientServer models is kind of pointless. As long as the user controls their own data it doesn't matter how the system works.
That said, I do see that the two models work better in different scenarios. For instance, #Mastodon is way better as a server based system since you can easily form communities on it. Whereas, #Scuttlebutt is better for staying connected to people even without Internet Access. Diversity is a competitive advantage.
