A - so, is it "good" for "them" or "us" or "business" or what. Is it almost trying to make it feel like that sort of "no side loading" type of feeling? Or force people to use the terminal or. Or make it so "dummies" don't install bad things by accident or something? Or is it none of the above or some of the above or we just don't know? Hm. I wonder. bc it was kinda nice having the gui installation capability and this feels like a downgrade. Hm. But even if it is some of the above, and have them force users to the terminal for *initial installation* it doesn't make sense to force users to the terminal for *software updates* as software updates include security stuff that would be beneficial for all users even "dummies" or whatever. Like, sure, maybe the initial installation should require terminal, but the UI should support software updates via the gui.

Szewc w końcu kupił buty. Gemini wchodzi do przeglądarki na ChromeOS (z półrocznym poślizgiem)

Sytuacja jest niemal komiczna. We wrześniu 2025 roku Google udostępniło funkcję „Gemini in Chrome” szerokiemu gronu odbiorców na Windowsie i macOS. Użytkownicy Chromebooków – komputerów, których jedynym celem istnienia jest bycie oknem na usługi Google – musieli obejść się smakiem. Aż do teraz.

AI, które „widzi” Twoje zakładki

Natywna integracja Gemini z przeglądarką Chrome zaczęła wreszcie pojawiać się na ChromeOS, konkretnie w kanale testowym Canary. Dlaczego to ważne? Bo to nie jest zwykły skrót do strony z chatbotem. Funkcja „Gemini in Chrome” działa jako boczny panel, który ma dostęp do kontekstu Twojej pracy. Możesz poprosić AI o:

Podsumowanie artykułu, który masz otwarty w aktywnej karcie.
Porównanie informacji z kilku otwartych kart (np. specyfikacji produktów w różnych sklepach).
Odwołanie się do stron odwiedzonych w historii przeglądania.

To narzędzie, które realnie przyspiesza research, pod warunkiem, że jest głęboko zintegrowane z przeglądarką.

Cel: Chrome 144

Google oficjalnie potwierdziło na stronach wsparcia, że celem wdrożenia jest wersja Chrome 144. To właśnie ta aktualizacja ma przynieść Gemini na paski zadań użytkowników ChromeOS. Biorąc pod uwagę obecność funkcji w kanale Canary, premiera jest już blisko.

Jest jednak haczyk. Wiele wskazuje na to, że – przynajmniej na początku – nowość trafi wyłącznie na certyfikowane urządzenia z serii Chromebook Plus. Posiadacze starszych lub budżetowych modeli (często spotykanych w edukacji) mogą na to poczekać jeszcze dłużej.

Mimo wszystko dobrze widzieć, że Google w końcu przypomniało sobie o własnym systemie operacyjnym. Lepiej późno niż wcale.
