Hat Ursula von der Leyen eine eine Schwäche für den früheren Sitcom-Darsteller und heutigen Überwachungsunternehmer Ashton Kutcher, oder warum versucht sie seit Jahren, Software und Services zur Massenüberwachung von seiner Firma Thorn zu kaufen und EU-weit einzusetzen?

Thorn will die Chatkontrolle, Upload-Filter und ein Verschlüsselungsverbot, kommt aber damit in demokratischen Ländern nicht so recht voran.

Aktuell wollen Thorn und Zensursula die Massenüberwachung dadurch erreichen, dass alle EU-Bürger:innen nur dann ins Internet dürfen, wenn sie ihren Ausweis und ihr Gesicht von einer (bereits zerhackten) App namens #MiniWallet einlesen und auswerten lassen.

Der Ethikrat und die meisten Expert:innen finden diese Idee nicht gut. Also hat Zensursula sich von einem Psychiater und einer Gesundheitswissenschaftlerin in aller Eile ein #Gefälligkeitsgutachten schreiben lassen, in dem auffällige Formulierungen aus Werbematerialien der Firma Thorn vorkommen. Und natürlich verwendet dieses „Gutachten“ den Fachbegriff #ZeroKnowledgeProof falsch – die beiden Autor:innen haben ja keine Ahnung von der IT, die sie regulieren wollen.

Disgusting Ashton Kutcher is, and has been, behind mass surveillance like chat control. Because he owns a company called #Thorn that provides identity verification and would of course profit immensely if identity verification suddenly became mandatory on a massive scale. That's why he lobbies the EU so hard. Since years.

Kutcher and his wife Mila Kunis are also both friends with Danny Masterson, a convicted rapist. Both Kutcher and Kunis defended him in court and said Masterson is such a nice guy. Who just happens to rape women.

And here you have the current president of the EU Council, Roberta Metsola, a woman who cannot take a No for a No, and revives the chat control, even though we already voted No in March, and not for the first time. And she poses with Kutcher and writes he is an "all around nice guy".

@anon_opin Usually when that happens it's by someone like #AshtonKutcher's #Thorn, who have a product to sell.

Walking along, I saw this tree. It looks mostly dead, perhaps entirely dead, but it has these thorns coming from it, and they have some greenery attached of associated with it.

So ... are the thorns part of a parasitical organism? Or ... is something else going on?

Does anyone recognise this? I'm in the North West of England.

@echo_pbreyer still can't believe that the dorky guy from #That70sShow #AshtonKutcher cofounded the organization #Thorn which tries to undermine freedom and privacy in the EU. Maybe he means well but he seems to be at least as stupid IRL as he was in the show.

De EC heeft Ylva Johansson uit Zweden die graag een breiwerkjes afmaakt tijdens een EU vergadering en het voorstel heeft ingediend voor #Chatcontrol, ondersteund door de lobbygroep betaald door #Thorn.

The company had been a leading voice in favour of the Commission’s proposed regulation to prevent and combat child sexual abuse, also known as ‘chat control.’ Thorn reportedly was closely involved in drafting this proposal.
