  1. @e_nomem

That's kind of problematic, I would think. Perhaps it's a bug.

    1. hachyderm.io moderators have not announced any policy change to my knowledge.
    2. They don't publish any public info on moderated servers on hachyderm.io/about

It's a relatively minor irritation to me; but, something is broken here.

  2. I love whoever manages to put this on the end shelf of the religion section at my local Barnes and Noble

  3. Spent like 2 hours trying to figure out why my MOTD (via update-motd.d) wasn't showing up when using SSH. Turns out there's a bug in Debian 13 where the 'remote' pam service configuration is missing. My SSH connection was over tailscale, and tailscale execs `login -h` which uses the 'remote' service instead of 'login'. The default pam configuration is empty so `pam_motd.so` is never invoked.

    References for the curious:
    - github.com/tailscale/tailscale
    - bugs-devel.debian.org/cgi-bin/

That's enough computer for today, I think.

  7. Today in creative workarounds: Envoy hasn't published debian packages in a while so I extracted the binary directly from the distroless docker image and uploaded it to my server.

  8. Bad news: I accidentally broke creating sdists with maturin
Good news: It wasn't entirely my fault and I figured out a fix

It was partially caused by a bug in the CPython `tarfile` module!

  13. For those following along on this 'exciting' saga, I did, in fact, submit a PR. It has been merged and a new version of pypostal has been released. Another OSS success story.

  14. Didn't realize that homebrew finally packaged libpostal, that's awesome! Still can't use pypostal though because it has hard coded lib and include dirs that don't work with homebrew's /opt/homebrew/... prefix 😞

Also it still claims python 2 support 😬

I wonder if they'd be open to PRs…

  15. I almost missed that today is #YurisNight! It's hard to understate how amazing it is that humanity has had a constant presence in space for so long and I certainly can't imagine what it must have been like on that night in 1961.
