Its bulbs are considered a delicacy in southern Italy (#Lampascioni) and on the island of Crete (#Ascodulaki). They are said to be very tasty; however, according to various reports preparation is a mess because they contain a sticky fluid. I still want to try some.

Beautiful flower in our garden, most likely an “oyster plant” (Tragopogon porrifolius). Its leaves can be cooked as #horta (Greek boiled vegetables), and its roots are edible as well.

On my bike tour (see last toot), this tawny #owl (Strix aluco) launched into flight from a branch less than five metres away from me. It landed on a tree not too far away, and patiently waited for me to get my photo gear out of my #cargobike, mount the camera on the tripod, and take some pictures. 😻

A rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri) in Athens, Greece. To my knowledge, this is one of two green parrot species living in Greece, with the more common monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) being the other. Both are neozoa (introduced species).

One of the benefits of working part time with flexible hours is the liberty of taking a morning off and going for a little bike tour. I usually take my photo equipment with me on my #cargobike - and today I was glad I did when I came across this red kite (Milvus milvus) near a field.
The bird did some spectacular fly-bys for me; all photos below are un-cropped.

BTW, the image was taken with #Fujifilm's XF 150-600mm lens (at 600mm and F/8.0). Yes, it's a bit slow, but it delivers fantastic corner-to-corner sharpness as well as rather pleasing bokeh for a super zoom.

How convenient: #Comet 12P #PonsBrooks was “visible” from our living room window tonight right after dinner. So I took the chance to take some photos with my hobby equipment, which is hardly made for #astrophotography (at least I had a Bahtinov mask to help focussing).

Earlier tonight, the #Moon was setting close to the Chapel of St. George on Mount #Lycabettus. This is the view from our balcony. The photo is unedited except for a stack of five frames (in order to reduce noise) and some cropping.
