    The prompt is #Bee

Strange Cargo - “Kiss of the Bee” from "Hinterland" (1995)

I could not resist double dipping this week, because this track from electronic musician and producer extraordinaire William Orbit, here using his 90s project name Strange Cargo, is some of the grooviest, funkiest electro-downtempo that these ears of mine have ever savored.

  2. "Frozen" is a song by American singer and songwriter #Madonna from her seventh studio album, #RayOfLight (1998). #Maverick and #WarnerBrosRecords released it as the album's #leadSingle on January 23, 1998. "Frozen" was written by Madonna and #PatrickLeonard, who both produced it in collaboration with #WilliamOrbit. The #downtempo #electronica and #pop #ballad, which has a layered sound enhanced by #synthesizers and #strings, lyrically addresses a cold.

  4. Kontynuujac wczorajszy watek "#MuzykaKlubowa vs aranzacje symfoniczne"

Samuel #Barber's #AdagioForStrings to chyba jeden z najciekawszych przypadkow kiedy utwor symfoniczny inspiruje do stworzenia klubowego remixu, a nastepnie znowu powstaje wersja na orkiestre...

    dwie najbardziej znane wersje klubowe:

    I powrot do wersji... no, mieszanej ;) #IbizaOrchestral: youtube.com/watch?v=8NIkxqdGcr4

poza tym, z tym utworem jest troche jak w tym memie "czy faceci maja jakies uczucia?"

PS. tak, mam cale ostatnie 30-pare lat historii muzyki klubowej w glowie, skad wiedzieliscie? 😂

    The word is Water

William Orbit, “Water From A Vine Leaf” from Strange Cargo III, 1993

I think I first encountered #WilliamOrbit via a mix on a 12” single of #Sting’s “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free.” Spare and clean with minimal instrumentation and just a touch of electronics, it hinted at #funk enough to make this white girl move, but not muss my hair. It had what I came to recognize as his mixing hallmark: the electronics were there to serve the song. Mixes for singles by #Madonna (Justify My Love), #PeterGabriel (Mercy Street) and #Seal (Crazy) followed, all among my favorites.

What I didn’t know was at the same time, he was creating music of his own and had an ongoing project, Strange Cargo - but when Water from a Vine Leaf hit the airwaves, I became AWARE. This track bathes the listener in ethereal beauty, complete with icy cool vocals from early muse #BethOrton, while it absolutely SLAMS.

  7. Saw something that reminded me of Fascinating Rhythm by the William Orbit project, Bass-O-Matic. It's such a good bit of music so, for no other reason than that, here it is.

  8. Busy day in the studio today, plumbed in a Behringer #X32Rack as a synth/drum machine submixer and occasional USB interface.

I do love the #X32's faux #QuantecRoomSimulator reverb, brings back many happy memories of #WilliamOrbit and #TorchSong's #WishThing album.

I'd say it's the perfect submixer for a big electronic music studio although it is verging on overkill. BUT I got it for around the same price as a bare USB interface with similar inputs.

    The word is Lonely

#BethOrton, “Lonely” from Weather Alive, 2022

I fell in love with Beth Orton’s voice and her aesthetic with the first plaintive notes of “She Cries Your Name” from her major-label debut “Trailer Park” in 1995. There is a cool #downtempo texture that just drips from her vocals, whether used to add organic appeal in a techno tableau (paging #WilliamOrbit), or to chill the vibe of #AcousticFolk. She has penned and sung transcendent music that simultaneously opens and soothes my heart, and less ambitious songs that are still delicate and lovely, had highs and lows over the years, but she hasn’t moved me in the way she used to in some time. With “Lonely” on her latest album “Weather Alive,” her voice does sound weathered - pun intended, on both our parts? - but the magic is back.
