Aww, just heard that William Orbit has passed away.
I don't know a lot of his work, but his Pieces in a Modern Style are amazing.

What a sad loss indeed. I’ll miss his solo creations.

Very sad to hear of the unexpected passing of #WilliamOrbit
It’s no exaggeration to say his Strange Cargo albums were a formative influence for me, in that they moulded a big chunk of my music tastes.
Strange Cargo III in particular was the soundtrack to one of the most significant periods of my teenage life. Just incalculably meaningful. RIP, go well

RIP #WilliamOrbit. I suppose this is the closest we'll get to a tribute from BBC Four tonight. #TOTP

I can't believe that William Orbit has died.
Odyssey - a compilation of his remixes - showed how he could transform music with his unqiue style: https://www.discogs.com/master/435987-William-Orbit-Odyssey
I don't know what Madonna's "Ray of Light" would have been like without him, but I suspect it would never have been anything like the trippy, trance, classic that he made it...

I did wonder if BBC Four might swap out three hours of Tony Bennett tonight for just a little bit of a tribute to #WilliamOrbit but I guess Auntie doesn't move at that sort of speed.

@flargh Oh no, I didn't realise he'd passed away.
A few years ago Classic Pop Magazine did a retrospective of Madonna's Ray Of Light - an album which effectively relaunched her entire career - and the article made it very clear that William Orbit was as much the driving force behind that album as Madonna was.
There was a good interview with Orbit as part of the article, I'll see if they have it online anywhere.

" #WilliamOrbit, jeden z najbardziej cenionych producentów muzycznych ostatnich dekad, zmarł 23 lipca w wieku 69 lat. Informację o jego śmierci przekazała dzisiaj rodzina artysty w oficjalnym oświadczeniu opublikowanym na Instagramie. Orbit był znany z pracy z takimi gwiazdami jak Madonna, All Saints czy Blur."
Legenda... to on przypomnial ludziom #AdagioForStrings - smiem stwierdzic, ze gdyby nie jego wersja, nie byloby potem kultowych remiksow #FerryCorsten czy #Tiesto, ktore sa grane po dzis dzien.
