Lo que más despunta (y honra) a Pure Devotion es su pasotismo en cuanto a la búsqueda de hits.
Con el fantasma del dance noventero sobrevolándoles (ahora para mejor, ahora para peor), Overmono, Ed y Tom (bros for real), arman una pista de baile con un abanico de densidades muy apreciable.
Llama la atención que After the Rain parezca comenzar ya comenzada, y su fortaleza. Una pieza magnífica: coreable, disfrutable y, lo más complejo, asequible. Luego están tracks como 'Knight' o Adre, que rompen la magia y por su forma dan la impresión de que funcionarían mejor como interludios.
Las bajonas no importan demasiado. Primero porque hay pocas. Luego, porque enseguida llegan canciones que reubican nuestra atención. Pienso en esa Laxbrook hilvanada con mimo y con un sonido dancero de relumbrón (Shine like jewelry in the night).
El toque a las sonoridades locales está bien integrado en Slowmotion. Tanto este como Barum, que no se casa con nadie en su afán evocador, ni chill ni dance, tienen su sentido dentro de Pure Devotion, lo alzan.
Sin embargo, Even Angels Ghost sobrepasa el punto tibio donde permanece Barum, y triunfa. Más melódica (y mejor cantada) que After the Rain, el prolijo viaje de 'Even', su trance, merece ser realizado, incluso sin valijas.
En tierra de nadie se queda una de las más reproducidas. Lockup parece ser un hit al que cortaron las alas, y con todo gustará con razón a mucha gente. Ya quisieran las Fangoria dar con un tema así. Gem Lingo la rebasa solamente por atreverse a explorar con elementos menos consolidados (sin ser un álbum de electrónica experimental para nada).
Mención final para el portadón minimalista de carácter urbano, que con cuatro elementos (persiana, luz, escaleras, perros) se te ancla en la retina.

However in all fairness there are quite a few already. So I guess what I really mean is BIGGER rock shows.
Alas my city currently does not have the venues that make bigger bands stop on their UK tours. So I think my real answer to this question would have to be bigger rock venues. I genuinely believe a purpose built music venue in my city of around 20,000 seats or capacity would do really well!
It wouldn’t even have to be just for rock obviously but it would kick the place back into life for sure. But we are situated in the middle of the UK, we have 2 major rock and metal festivals near us already it is the IDEAL location for something like this…
