@patrickhadfield Here's the MP who's proposing to stand down's 'they work for you' report card.
He was first elected at the last election.
He has received moderately large donations from a very small number of donors, and hospitality from a football club which I think is within his constituency. I can't find any occasions where he has voted against the #UKLabour whip. He's a member of the APPG against anti-semitism.
Used to work for Meta. On Bluesky, but not Twitter.

CW: UKPol - Wesley Streeting.

Imagine being deluded enough to believe that Wes Streeting might be the savior of UK labour. You do it. I can't. #uk #uklabour #ukpol #ukpolitics

Sir Keir Shiteshow and assorted shenanigans continue to impact the UK... https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn7p2yl8j73o #resignsirkeir #UKpoli #UKlabour #labourUK #UK

@petealexharris @naefool @Cyclist No #UKLabour candidate, whether parachuted in or otherwise, can be sure of winning any seat anywhere in the UK these days, so that is not necessarily a blocker.

Hey civil servants, hey back benchers hey anyone - put a wooden shoe in the works, slow type the agreements, call up critical.issues, get it referred to Parliament investigate their ties to Mandelson who arranged for these pedos.
Slow it to a stop, cancel it, and GET RID OF STARMER.
-
I was really hoping #UKLabour would have time to scrap #FPTP before they committed hara-kiri.
I don't see a potential replacement for Starmer who looks like a safer bet that I would vote for. What they need is to play as a team and stop Starmer announcing daft ideas before they've all thought them through. It's not strong leadership to make mistakes on your own. If they were collective mistakes then they may as well go now and let Honest Nige finish us off.

The law and morality and a century of practice protect the privacy of medical patients.
Angus is pissed that Starmer is giving American fascists complete and total access to your medical and private information.
Because Starmer is an idiot, without a moral structure beyond power.
Remove Starmer today. Milliband or Burnham?

Just written to my MP on the extremely urgent subject of electoral reform. The two-party system is dead and FPTP is not fit for purpose. If Labour doesn't bring in PR now, it is putting the country at genuine risk in the next election.

Tax WEALTH. TAX billionaires, Biden wanted a 25% of billionaire wealth.

We all know that #ScottishLabour are much closer to the #SNP on policies than they are to #UKLabour. So would it be a good thing for Scotland if SNP/ScotLab were to agree a coalition deal in which:
1. ScotLab would support the call for #IndyRef2, but would not necessarily campaign for #ScottishIndependence and
2. ScotLab would get the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, with a remit to nationalise Scotland's buses? -

Labour is now populated by people without a shred of political conviction, concern for the people the party was created to serve, or even understanding that they have the power to effect change in the world that desperately needs it. Their service is to oligarchs, the City of London, the interests of large multinational corporations and, all too obviously these days, Zionism.

What is possible now?
Posted on May 10 2026I would like to be interested in Labour's plans to appoint a new leader, and so the Prime Minister of the UK. I have to admit, I am not.
I know that we will suffer almost endless discussion of this issue for weeks to come until Starmer is gone, a successor is appointed, and Andy Burnham is left in perpetual exile in Manchester, as I think likely.
But the real question is why should I be interested in a contest where the choice seems to be between Wes Streeting, Angela Rayner and Andy Burnham?
None has any notable leadership talent.
As far as I can tell, none of them has any understanding of economics of any sort, and when Burnham last stood to be leader, in the contest that saw Jeremy Corbyn win the day, his offering was dismally neoliberal. I expect nothing different from either him or the other two now. Nor do I see any chance that Labour might change course as a consequence of the election of any of these three, or someone else.

Is Milliband the best candidate here?
On Starmer's exit, unifying strongly around the greatest change message to voters would be powerful.
Start a draft Milliband group?

@urlyman Yes, but this is irrelevant, too, because this time we can't: we're up against a hard limit imposed by the laws of physics. We're heating our planet beyond what is habitable for us.
So we either abandon fossil hydrocarbons altogether, or we end complex life on Earth.
Full disclosure, I believe we're choosing the second option. Certainly, #UKLabour and the #SNP are.
-
Its time for labour to push the blairites out, push Starmer aside.
UKLabour is corrupt and needs a clean.house.
Clean house.
Starmer Out.
-
@beemoh I think #Starmer actually does completely lack any political convictions of his own. I think he wanted to become Prime Minister, and put himself in the hands of a group of people who told him they could make him Prime Minister. I think he's hapless, stupid, and trapped, and probably being blackmailed.
That doesn't mean he's not culpable. He put himself into the hands of people he must have known were ruthless and dishonest, to satisfy his own vanity.

"You won’t be able to move this weekend for commentators gravely intoning that #Starmer lacks a vision for government. What they won’t say is that he eschewed any vision to get into government. His very lack of politics is how he became politically successful. It was the essential precondition for him to be judged by the right wing papers and others as no threat"

@2legged shame on them #uklabour they have nothing to offer. I am standing for the #GreenParty and #uklabour smeared me, shock horror #climateactivist gets criminal conviction.

Every evil the Tories installed, is still present: corrupted BBC, demo laws, rights removal, austerity, low NHS funding, privatisation, plus a grab bag of new insults, Palantir nazi data control system and #AI and no sovereign digital control. Refuses to rejoin Europe.
Canada will be in the EU before rhe UK
Starmer is the boil of right Wong labour, rhe rebirth of Blairism, a betrayal of more than a century of progressive pro people policy.
Bye bye
