I think it's possible that the people behind proscribing Palestine Action might have underestimated the effects of how unsettling this all is for middle-class people who basically trusted "the system" before.

I wonder did they _want_ that effect for some reason, and it's going to be the excuse for something worse later on, or are they just not very clever?

An article from a while back talked about how much the police don't like it either. Some of them joined thinking that their job was to catch villains and protect "the public", and they _hated_ being sent to arrest old people who reminded them of their grandads and grandmas, for sitting around in a friendly way doing basically nothing. The disillusion was bad for morale.

I said before, I think it's "bringing the law into disrepute".

Heavy-handed arrests for people who've dared to say that supporting Palestine Action is a good thing.

Inside a designated area, wearing anything that conceals your identity — including a face mask or respirator — is a criminal offence, punishable by up to a month's imprisonment or a fine. There is a health provision, but it works as a defence, not an exemption: a person wearing a mask in a designated area commits the offence, and must then prove their health reason afterwards — potentially after being stopped or arrested.
