    Jury Nullification!

This is why the State has to pull tricks and spread lies, the Public ain't buying it, we're better than our Government (low bar!)

  7. Concerning the legalisation of #pluginsolar in the UK, there is one question open (for us) and maybe there is a #lawyer here who can answer it:

The UK "legalized" #pluginpv but didn't change any law concerning the right of #tenants to use it. The guidance simply says "ask your #landlord”.

Is the use of pluginsolar now subject to the whims of the landlord or does UK law give the tenant a right to install it, as its a generally legal and regulated technical device?

  8. RE: todon.eu/@regendans/1171471898

Apparently British Juries are not allowed to use their consciences, it must only be obedience to the State.

Funny how all those "Free Speech Heroes" crying about that Race Science guy are silent on stuff like that, must be their own Free Speech and no one else's.....wonder if the Media is ever going to notice that one

  9. "Judge Altham, the recorder of Preston, ruled on Friday that while the damage was substantial, it was not of the size of other attacks or against a sensitive property, such as an arms company, as has happened in previous Palestine Action incidents, and thus did not meet the high threshold for a terrorist sentencing."

So what makes it a 'terrorist act' is how much property damage your act cost...

  11. CW: re: UKPol, Palestine Action, arrests

    @penguinflight

I think it's possible that the people behind proscribing Palestine Action might have underestimated the effects of how unsettling this all is for middle-class people who basically trusted "the system" before.

I wonder did they _want_ that effect for some reason, and it's going to be the excuse for something worse later on, or are they just not very clever?

An article from a while back talked about how much the police don't like it either. Some of them joined thinking that their job was to catch villains and protect "the public", and they _hated_ being sent to arrest old people who reminded them of their grandads and grandmas, for sitting around in a friendly way doing basically nothing. The disillusion was bad for morale.

I said before, I think it's "bringing the law into disrepute".

  12. CW: UKPol, Palestine Action, arrests

Heavy-handed arrests for people who've dared to say that supporting Palestine Action is a good thing.

"She was woken by a series of bangs on her door at around 1am. ...

"Allie recalled that she had said as she was being handcuffed: β€œThis is a bit much for what this is, isn’t it?” ...

"... she was held for about eight to nine hours, and released with no charge. ...

β€œYou go through life with a belief in the systems that are there to protect you. This is such a heinous overreach and abuse of those systems. I don't think that I'll ever be able to fully reconcile myself with it. It's like having to reconstruct a new reality,” she said."

Imagine the backroom manoeuvres there are in the chambers of UK Law against them.
"Don't rock that boat. Don't cause a scene. Fit in or fuck off!"

The quite and petty oppression of the British Isles.

  15. RE: todon.eu/@regendans/1170103346

The Labour Government would happily destroy the Criminal Justice system in this country just to protect another nation's genocide of peoples.

The UK State will never let us 'win', they can't lose face, even if it destroys them. I've seen it in every UKGOV scandal....

  20. #Wikipedia just dodged a bullet in the UK but is still in danger.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedi

The bullet was the possibility of Category 1 classification under the UK Online Safety Act. It was spared that classification but remains on a "watch list" of platforms that "could become Category 1 at any point in the future."

If Wikipedia is later classified as Category 1, then either (1) contributors could no longer be pseudonymous or (2) Wikipedia would be subject to severe penalties under UK law.

How severe? The maximum penalty could include a fine up to Β£18 million, a UK-wide denial of access, and personal criminal liability for senior managers.
