  4. Delivery firms may soon be liable for unsafe gig economy vehicles.

A legal text change due to come in on October 1st will make it much harder for delivery businesses to enable undocumented workers on their apps, and with that comes knock on effects for vehicle liabilities.

  12. Concerning the legalisation of #pluginsolar in the UK, there is one question open (for us) and maybe there is a #lawyer here who can answer it:

The UK "legalized" #pluginpv but didn't change any law concerning the right of #tenants to use it. The guidance simply says "ask your #landlord”.

Is the use of pluginsolar now subject to the whims of the landlord or does UK law give the tenant a right to install it, as its a generally legal and regulated technical device?

  13. CW: "Survey: Masks, Protest, and Public Life" (UK)

"Survey: Masks, Protest, and Public Life

"This survey is open to all Clinically Vulnerable people, those in their families, and also people who wear masks in the UK. It asks about your experience of mask-wearing, the new protest law, and how these affect your daily life. Some questions ask about your health, or the health of a Clinically Vulnerable person in your household.

"What the new law does: From 29 June 2026, under the Crime and Policing Act 2026, police in England and Wales can designate an area around a protest for up to 24 hours (extendable to 48). Inside a designated area, wearing anything that conceals your identity — including a face mask or respirator — is a criminal offence, punishable by up to a month's imprisonment or a fine. There is a health provision, but it works as a defence, not an exemption: a person wearing a mask in a designated area commits the offence, and must then prove their health reason afterwards — potentially after being stopped or arrested.

"It takes about 4 minutes to complete.

"Who is collecting this information: Clinically Vulnerable Families (CVF), registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller [ZB887575]."

I've done the survey! It genuinely didn't take very long.

  15. "On 8 May, 2025, the @wikimediafoundation, the nonprofit that hosts @wikipedia, announced that it is challenging the lawfulness of the UK’s Online Safety Act (OSA)’s Categorisation Regulations. We are arguing that they place Wikipedia and its users at unacceptable risk of being subjected to the OSA’s toughest “Category 1” duties, which were originally designed to target some of the UK’s riskiest websites."
