Was mich an #LotR immer irritierte: #Sauron oder die Ringgeister leben mit den Orks in dystopischen Fels-/Schlamm-/Vulkanwüsten ohne Pflanzen.
Ja klar ist das Ziel "Macht", und "Weltherrschaft", evtl. gar neidisches "Niemand darf's besser haben als ich, also müssen die Elben weg!" oder so?
Aber davon unabhängig ob der evil Overlord es okay findet hässliche Untertanen im Dreck leben zu lassen, will er das doch nicht selber? Im Dreck leben kann auch der niederste Mensch oder Ork.
Die Ebene von Gorgoroth ("Land der schrecklichen Angst" oder "Tal der Schrecken"), stellte das Machtzentrum des Landes dar. Gorgoroth war eine kahle, mit Schlackehügeln und Asche bedeckte Wüste, unter den riesigen Rauchwolken, die der Schicksalsberg ausstieß. Weil der Schicksalberg ständig neue Lavaströme ausgab, wurde die Ebene stets neu geformt.
Barad-dûr wäre niemals zwischen Ork-Gruben und Lavaströmen erbaut worden, sondern eher so im Ski-Resort oder am schönsten Sandstrand Mordors?
Im Gegensatz zu Smaug, der halt einfach nur auf möglichst viel Gold und Edelsteinen ruhig schlafen will, passt die Motivation nicht?

My LEGO Sauron (11373) arrived.
Since I'm unlikely to ever got a licensed Melkor/Morgoth in my lifetime, and since I don't want to buy individual bricks to make my own from scratch, I've settle on Morgoth's lieutenant (and pain in the ass for the Second and Third Ages of Middle-Earth) Sauron!I'm going to figure out a way to attach 3 crystals on his helmet to be the 3 silmarils and then light them with LEDs so they glow.

Und sein Bösewicht aller Bösewichte, der archetypische „Big Bad“, von dem alle „Big Bads“ des 20. Jahrhunderts abgeleitet sind, war Sauron.
Und #Sauron hatte ein Handy. Eine Kristallkugel, mit der er seinen besten Handlanger, #Saruman, anrufen konnte. Es gab ein ganzes Netzwerk dieser Telefone, und Sauron konnte jeden ausspionieren, der eines besaß.
Diese Kristallkugeln? Tolkien nannte sie die Palantíri.
Vielleicht hat sich das wohl einflussreichste Unternehmen, das daran arbeitet, den #Überwachungsstaat in den Vereinigten Staaten auszubauen, Palantir, nach diesen Steinen benannt. Sie haben sich nach einem Werkzeug benannt, das vom Inbegriff des Bösen und der Macht für böse Zwecke genutzt wurde. Das weißt du wahrscheinlich.
Letztes Jahr hat der CEO von Palantir, Alex #Karp, ein Buch mit dem Titel The Technological Republic mitverfasst. Theoretiker haben es nüchtern als #Technofaschismus bezeichnet, und es ist ganz offensichtlich ein Versuch, den Weg für KI-Killermaschinen zu ebnen. Da niemand mehr die Lust hat, ganze Bücher zu lesen (und um ehrlich zu sein, ich will dieses spezielle Werk auch nicht lesen), hat Palantir eine 22-Punkte-Zusammenfassung veröffentlicht. Das ist wie aus Starship Troopers. Sie schlagen vor, dass Silicon Valley eine Pflicht gegenüber der Nation hat und nicht nur westliche Werte schützen, sondern sie weltweit verbreiten soll. Einzelpersonen haben die Pflicht, dem Staat zu dienen und Militärdienst zu leisten. Manche Kulturen sind degeneriert und weniger wertvoll als andere. Pluralismus war ein Fehler. Führungskräfte sollten der Öffentlichkeit gegenüber nicht rechenschaftspflichtig sein. Es geht immer so weiter.

However, him building even an #AI general makes him one ideal target 🎯 to use their own instruments (#GAI) for world dominion against themselves, Jujitsu style.

A couple of years ago I painted a #Mairon to practice composition, and it bothered me that I gave him black hair for sake of creating a striking image, even if I imagine him with fire hair (literally XD)

This is my preferred "explanation" for Orc origins if a new 📽️ or 📺 series based on #lotr #thelordoftherings were to be made. W don't need to confuse any newbies with the extent of Tolkien lore as there are several cataclysmic conflicts which occur millenia before the main narrative. Suffice it to say/state in the narrative that there was a "war between the gods" which devastated Middle earth 🌎🌍 and later some #elves were tricked into helping #Sauron make the #ringsofpower Those who refused to
