#Burnham is Labour's last hope, its last defence against #Pasokification. He has 3 years to rebuild the support destroyed by 9 years of the #McSweeney / #Starmer fraudsters.
The odds are heavily against Burnham. Hundreds of apparatchik MPs, 2 years wasted on Starmer's poison. But Andy starts here with good poetry, with unifying aspirations. If the prose excels too, Labour might not die.

@JugglingWithEggs The so-called "#LabourParty" is v like the #UK, i.e. an anti-democratic oligarchy disguised by some democratic clothing.
The #GE2024 gave "Labour" ⅔ of seats for ⅓ of votes. So no Labour leader has a right to be PM with significant aupport from other parties.
Any Labour leadership election would be a farce. Nominations controlled by MPs selected by the #McSweeney conspiracy. Votes excluding the ~250k members expelled or driven out.
There's no democratic path here.

I see that irony and self awareness have completely passed McSweeney by. Over his head one might say.
Perhaps spending a little time not trying to curry favour with their donors, hide evidence of electoral misproprietry and false accusations against journalists might have given them a little time too. 14 years of time maybe.

Was I too harsh? I usually sympathise with a resignee. Even if I deplore the politics, I feel human hurt. I even felt the tears of Thatcher.

1/ Timing is a problem. Summer elections favour Labour's good ground game, but Burnham won't be in post until late July at earliest. Hard to see an election before the equinoxial gales.
2/ Starmer's unpopularity left Labour skint.Where will #Burnham get £10m in 6 weeks?
3/ How long does Burnham need to purge #McSweeney's rats from the party machine, and get a new team into top gear?

Walker omits that #Starmer is a fraudster, led to power by a conspiracy of saboteurs. #LabourTogether isn't an "error" by Starmer; it's the entire basis of his leadership. Without #McSweeney's deceit & sabotage, Starmer would be a nobody.

I feel very sorry for the genuine hardworking #Labour councillors who strive to improve their communities.
They have been hugely let down by the #LabourTogether project that enabled #McSweeney to take the man with no ideology - #Starmer and make him a placeholder for Blue Labour leadership, bolstered by Steve Reed, Shabana Mahmood and Wes Streeting.
But this coterie are a minority within the Labour movement.
Please let democracy prevail tomorrow.

@rmblaber1956 Of course. For 9 years, the #Starmer / #McSweeney / #LabourTogether axis has followed the #hasbara playbook: lie, deceive, attack, smear, cancel, destroy. It's ruthless and it's relentless. And most of the media supports the strategy, so it usually works.
As #Corbyn found painfully, any concession to this gang will be exploited as weakness.
The only defense is ferocious counter-attack. #ZackPolanski needs to go back on the attack.
