Pulled the USB-A extension cable out of my #UAT setup. I have a better power supply on order too.
I'm still not seeing UAT messages even though the ADS-B Exchange setup showed pretty clearly that an aircraft went directly overhead.
hmmm
I do want to get at least one position report in so that I'm convinced that anything could possibly work.

this uses two SDR devices and two antennas.

Added a 978 MHz #UAT receiver to my #Piaware setup. I had an antenna already and had a spare SDR and turns out also had a spare USB-A to USB-A cable so that everything fits on the PI 3.
On the good side, all software seems to check out, and I'm getting "system is up" readings.
On the bad side for now, there are no low-flying UAT aircraft overhead so it's not easily possible to test.
The configuration is really aimed at U of Michigan football game days when planes tow ad banners, until then ?

@vmbrasseur it’s particularly annoying if you use #accessibility features to make the device more useable – I use larger text sizes (old eyes 😩), reduce transparency & reduce motion, on / off labels, & increase contrast to make the UI more tolerable & obvious (to me), & it’s clear that they haven’t done a lot of (any? 🤔) testing of how these features modify or break the new #UI elements / “#DesignLanguage” 😤
I hate seeing accessibility being relegated to an afterthought by most OS & app devs, but it’s particularly galling when it’s one of the richest companies on the planet (they also clearly don’t do a lot of testing / #UAT of how much #LockdownMode breaks things even in their own apps, but that’s a separate rant 😜)

Cool that vibe coders can now use AI to output ultra detailed test plans covering responsive testing on all screen sizes and form factors and in every browser that they've no intention of doing themselves and have NEVER DONE IN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES.

The @nooelecinc #FlyCatcher #RasPi “hat” which isn’t much of a hat vs just a thing that fits on a RasPi form factor.
It covers 1090 #ADSB and 978 #UAT aircraft beacons to receive. Built in LNA for amplification and filters for the frequencies needed.
comes with heat sinks and I have it installed on the opposite side of the RasPi as my installation doesn’t require the use of the header pass thru it supports and I’m going for an install with a fan on the case and solid heatsinks on RasPi.

In the past weeks I see many videos on YT with titles indicating that the interstellar object Oumuamua has either recently accelerated again or "has returned" / "is headed back to us" and the claims are often associated with physicist Dr. Michi Kaku.
But, looking at every such video I find, there is no mention of anything like this having been observed.
Such an occurrence would be remarkable, and so I assume this is just another example of extreme click-bating that's certainly been on the rise recently.
I assume no one reading has heard such an actual claim. ?

Old Test Types Need Not Apply.
I primarily work in situations that are less about application delivery and more about moving the whole system stacks, implementing a standard system, or similarly changing the organizational IT landscape. Some would list these projects as “staff projects” if that helps you. #UAT #QA I finally got the correct Linux permissions to run tests for backend processes. Sure, it's been over a year since I started being assigned to testing backend processes and having to frantically get at least two other people to run parts of my test so I could do the third part (screenshot) but you know, better late than never I guess?

I live near Michigan Stadium.
The specific bits of radio fun for that include tracking the blimp on #ADSB as it wobbles its way north from the base in EN91 (which I have done), and tracking the ADSB #UAT transmissions of the planes that circle the stadium with banners on 978 MHz (which I have not yet done).
Michigan Athletics uses a DMR based system for communications, described at https://www.radioreference.com/db/sid/9375 - I suspect that would be hard to monitor.

One of my current quests is for resources to help non-IT folks become better at defining system #requirements and #UAT #test scenarios. It seems like there must be something out there, but the correct buzzwords are eluding me.
A good resource would probably consider things like:
- Primer on testing vocabulary / methods
- How do you know your tests cover the full problem space? And with the fewest possible tests?
- How do you know when you have tested enough?
