Today I have learned that toxic sh****le by the name of linux.org.ru has a mastodon instance. It's called lor.sh and doesn't advertise affiliation. At least one of their moderators is advertising the enemy of Ukraine and the West @drq on their peertube instance.
Remember, the situation with #TVRain (a supposed liberal TV channel) doing fundraising for #russian #army is just an example of a general trend of pseudo-liberals waging information war (admittedly, sometimes inadvertently, by virtue of carrying deep-rooted imperialist worldview). In case of #TVRain they were stupid enough to go overt, but the plague still spreads via #meduza, #redakciya and other media. Remember that #redakciya under Mr. #Pivovarov are openly using nazi tropes to paint Baltic states and Baltic people as a threat to russia and russians. They sneak this into criticism of putin and many people overlook it. But that's exactly how good propaganda works. It needs to penetrate deeper than shallow "us vs them", it plants tropes, ideas, concepts and then, when the time is right, it utilises those to achieve whichever goal those with power need to be achieved.
Social media accounts employing propaganda tropes, slurs towrads Ukrainians, nazi slogans, regardless of intent, are ticking time bombs, as propaganda waves ripple through social networks, causing an avalanche effect.
Don't fall for covert russian #imperialism, defederate mastodon.ml, call out and report overt rushism, keep track of the enemies of the West.
We have to not repeat mistakes of #WW2 and make sure that those supporting russia and/or putin don't have a way into the Western society. We failed with letting nazis roam around freely after the #WW2.
We fucked with #NeverAgain, let's at least not fuck up with accountability for the enemies!

The challenges facing Russia’s independent media, now in exile across Europe, came to the fore this week when a major source of Russian-language news got into trouble in Latvia.
TV Rain (also known as Dozhd), a leading television station that relocated to Latvia after Russia invaded Ukraine, had its broadcasting licence revoked by the country’s media regulator for infringing broadcasting legislation.

#Latvia national media regulator NEPLP will revoke #TVRain broadcasting license, which it received after fleeing from #Russia when the war in #Ukraine started. TV Rain has been broadcasting in Russian since then and has been perceived as an opposition TV, but over that period was also subject to criticism as its presenter called for financial support for Russian newly mobilised soldiers etc.
Today Latvian Delfi station reports another rather telling case: Rain representatives were attending court appellation case where they were expected to restore the license, but they were unable to speak or understand anything, because they didn’t speak Latvian, which, rather obviously, is the official language in Latvia. They came expecting that everyone will talk to them in Russian, so the case was postponed.
The original NEPLP statement:
The National Council for Electronic Media (NEPLP) has decided to cancel the broadcasting licence of the TV programme “TV Rain” (“Дождь”). The decision to cancel the broadcasting licence was taken due to threats to national security and public order. The decision will come into force on the night of Thursday 8 December, when TV Rain must stop broadcasting on Latvian territory.
