I have come to the conclusion that the only effective way to eliminate #FossilFuels is to do it on a personal level. Reducing my carbon footprint is a lens through which every decision is filtered. It works!
I know a lot of people who worry about climate change but never take steps to personally address the issue. Isn't it logical for us to actually live on the planet as if we intend to stay?
Lifestyle changes, purchasing decisions, and other forms of reducing one's carbon footprint sucks the air out of the fossil fuel industry. This impactful movement is growing rapidly. While we lobby for governments to change the rules (which may never happen) we can change our lives, save money, improve our health, and move the needle toward a better world for all.
No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.
Be the change.
Our collective decisions matter.

Politicians and corporations are doing all they can to prevent people from protesting fossil fuel projects. Though they can't stop someone from going vegan, stop flying and electrifying their home. Such actions we must take to protect our planet.

Same week as the hottest temperatures ever recorded on earth. Flying is a direct cause of the current accelerating collapse of our ecosystems and ability to produce food around the world. We can choose to recognize this and act now. We can choose to divest.
Climate response is up to us. Local response, local mitigation, local adaptation in our own communities.

An older person was telling me about their upcoming European river cruise and said they were traveling as much as they can while they are physically able. They joked that they told their kids not to expect much of an inheritance - they meant money, but I thought about the planet.

In our book on Sustainable Sailing I've grouped some changes as "The big wins", so far I have:
- Abandon New
- Right Sizing
- Sorting out your poop
- Adding more simplicity
- Add more DIY
- Add more time
- Stop Flying
- Pareto VeganOf these "Stop Flying" seems incredibly significant (as a way of cutting #emissions); a challenge to a huge temptation when world cruising; and incredibly controversial.
