There is no fixing runaway global warming. It's too late. We're stuck with today's CO2 concentrations. We're stuck with today's radiative forcing. That means we're stuck with a temperature increase of 4C per century.

We _can_ avoid accelerating runaway global warming. We _can_ avoid making our current predicament worse, but there is no "fix".

I realize the immensity of this information is far beyond what most people can come face to face with, but this is the gravity of our predicament.

Furthermore, solar, wind and other "renewable" forms of energy generation are absolutely not anywhere near long-term sustainable. Those are just talking point for people who do not realize that we can not have 8.3 billion people and keep modern industrialized society intact and expect our species and life on earth to survive for very long.

Solar and wind make sense if you only look at the damage from fossil fuels and you compare them to fossil fuels. They don't if you take a whole earth approach.

We have crossed a minimum of seven major planetary boundaries. We absolutely need to stop burning fossil fuels and stop accelerating runaway global warming (or "climate change"). Nothing will survive if we go further beyond the other planetary boundaries in our quest to do that.

There have only ever been energy additions. Fun fact: at the height of the coal age, we burnt more biomass than ever before. At the height of the oil age, we burnt more coal than ever before. And at the height of the gas age, we’re burning more oil than ever before.

So all these people saying that adding renewable energy will mean fewer fossil fuels being burnt, that’s simply not true. In a world where the hunger for energy rises faster than energy production, renewables simply add more energy to the system. And if you imagine a green capitalist round of growth kicking off, you’d have to reconfigure the entire system, requiring enormous productive effort, all run from a fossil-fuel energy system. So basically, more renewables does not mean less fossils, it just means more energy in the mix."

@RaymondPierreL3 I don't know how it is that publicly funded "news outlets" / state propaganda outlets don't report on anything of importance, but it's pretty obvious when it comes to corporate "news": Advertisers don't like placing car ads next to articles explaining that driving a car accelerates biosphere collapse.

Also, climatology isn't all that important. As you wrote, we're past a minimum of seven planetary according to "scientists" but that's really a low guesstimate. I'm fairly sure that we passed a planetary boundary when we had killed of more than half the trees we used to have.

You can avoid buying anything you don't strictly need and never use a car and encourage those you know to do the same. Don't wait for the media to tell you that you should do the right thing or politicians to force you through law making, that's just not going to happen.
