" 'Nature is a great gardener. Sometimes we just need to get out of its way while providing a bit of support,' Li said.
" 'For tree planting, you need to purchase seeds and hire workers or recruit volunteers to plant and manage them, which is costly.
" 'For natural regeneration, people just need to check the land for #InvasiveSpecies and remove them, make sure there are adequate seed sources, provide protection from fire, #GrazingAnimals and humans, and then it is mostly self-sufficient.

First stage of fig tree planting: complete.
I dug a hole (with a little help from my kiddo), put the tree in it, backfilled and did some initial watering and added mulch.
Next phase is to build a small fence around it to protect it from the local critters.

Today I’m in Nswazi where we are preparing to bring over 80 jackfruit trees once they are ready from our nursery beds. The community clearly needs trees for fruits, shade, improving soil, clean air, and fighting hidden hunger. We now have 76 healthy jackfruit trees ready to be shared in church yards and 4 schools in Kyankwanzi District we had aimed for 120 but some didn’t survive during germination, the remaining will still support #EcoFriendly actions, #TreePlanting and fight against #HiddenHunger as part of our #SustainableProjects in #Kyankwanzi for #FoodSecurity and #ClimateAction very soon we shall be planting our trees #UgandaEcoYouthsNetwork .
