🐑💾 Ah, the thrilling world of #emulation, where you can spend countless hours setting up #SheepShaver just to relive the glory days of OS 9. Meanwhile, your actual #Mac sits neglected, wondering why it wasn’t good enough. 🤦♂️ But don't worry, the #EMaculation wiki is here to provide an endless maze of instructions, ensuring you're never lost while doing absolutely nothing. 🙃

Fixed this problem (somehow) by downgrading from Mac OS 7.6.1 to 7.5.3. 🤷🏻

Myst is not writing save files for some reason. Doesn't give me an error message; it just doesn't do it, no matter what destination folder I select. Hmph.

If someone wants to help an emulator project then SheepShaver urgently needs PowerPC MMU implementation.
Classic Mac OS emulation shouldn't be this clunky in 2024 and I'm too tied up with DOSBox Staging to help save yet another emulator.
DOSBox Staging ships with full support for PowerPC including dynamic recompilation for ppc, ppc64 and ppc64le targets so we love the architecture.

hey folks anyone know how to get SheepShaver bridged to the host's network on macOS 14?
i've got the network device set to
slirp. i swear this worked earlier this year, but i keep getting a10.x.x.xaddress and router now, instead of the192.168.y.yi'd expect from my home network, and i can no longer reach the PowerBook G3 AppleShare server on the same network from SheepShaver.questions:
- does SheepShaver bridging interact badly with Parallels?
- do i need Internet Sharing set to a specific setting, or does that not affect however bridging works?
i don't need AppleTalk support, just IP.
(reposted with clarifications and correct visibility)

I’m really getting fed up with #SheepShaver. It loves to crash at random when doing any of the following:
- clicking on an icon on the desktop and attempting to drag it (freeze)
- clicking on an icon on the desktop and attempting to rename it (freeze)
- trying to open a folder from the finder (bombs)
- trying to connect to an afp server in the chooser (bombs)
- booting the system (sometimes bombs while extensions are loading, sometimes freezes just before extensions start to load)This happens despite re-installing Mac OS 9 from scratch three times. The only thing I use this emulator for is to build the PPC version of #Macstodon, and even managing to get it to do that successfully is an exercise in patience these days.
Anyway, I think I’m going to try setting up #QEMU tonight as my new PPC emulator. I looked into it a couple years ago but it had quite poor performance, hopefully it’s improved since then, but I’ll happily trade that off for some stability!

Yesterday I spent an hour troubleshooting SheepShaver (a Mac emulator) on the Steam Deck.
The thing closed as soon as the OS was loading.Tried a different HDD image and it worked. I booted my original image and lowered the RAM and it opened up!
I tried opening SimCity 2000 and it reported an audio conflict.
I figured the audio was the issue. So, I turned the audio off with the original RAM and it loaded.
I turned it on again and now it's working without issue! -

Master Tracks Proみたいな痒いところまで手が届くMIDI編集アプリって最近見かけないんですよ。Studio Oneとかにも類似の機能があるのですが・・・
