@paulrickards My #MARCHintosh project also involves making a #TinyMac.
While I progressed on the software side (running #BasiliskII on framebuffer, with multiple configs chosen at boot time if a key is held), I lack hardware knowledge.
As your project seems quite advanced, could you share your internal wiring and integration of the CPX to send keys?
Is its internal speaker enough for gaming audio?
Did you also integrate the front knob and buttons?
Thanks in advance. -

I’ve been slowly rebuilding my computing life on Linux since about December.
The latest thing I’ve gotten working is #BasiliskII for Classic MacOS emulation. Runs like a champ!
I’m on CachyOS, and installed the git version of Basilisk using the package manager. The only tricky part was recreating /dev/dsp for sound output, until I found a helpful post pointing me towards osspd. Another install and systemd service and Basilisk has sound as well!

More good #Newton news, I can back up to a (virtual) MacOS machine, and #BasiliskII already mounts the host filesystem into itself, so this is way easier import and export using #virtualBox and Windows 3.11
Wonder what the last web browser for this OS was....

🖥️📉 "Heroic" Doug Brown regales us with his legendary tale of slaying the dread Black Screen bug in Basilisk II, a triumph only relevant to those living in 2013. 🏆 Meanwhile, the rest of us are busy, you know, using modern software. 🙄 #LivingInThePast #NotAllHeroesWearCapes

Basilisk II seems to be heavily-CPU based, which I guess makes sense for an emulation system. I guess I was thinking it would use more memory, but that begs the question "for what?”
Interesting to see the RPi Zero 2 drop about 15 degrees Celsius within minutes of the emulator being turned off.

We are getting there... i created a 1.44M image with dd, then formatted in #BasiliskII and copied a System 6.0.7 folder.
Unfortunately, it requires System 7. But it starts to boot! -

Simple overclocking of the Raspberry Pi Zero W, even just a little bit, seems to have a profound effect on Basilisk II. The PowerFrax application can render a 300x300 fractal in a few minutes rather than almost 2 hours.
Overclock settings in /boot/config.txt:
arm_freq=1085
gpu_freq=530
over_voltage=2
core_freq=515
sdram_freq=533
over_voltage_sdram=1It's possible I could overclock a bit more...
