The flute playing on the previous … toot (I still struggle with “toot”) brought to mind something from Ian and the boys. Another bourbon pour of that Woodford Reserve may be in order.

I just decided to listen to #JethroTull 's Living in the Past LP and suddenly realised that is exactly what I am doing 🤔.
Anyway, it's still very good if of it's time (1972).

@noosphaere #JethroTull #StandUp enthielt im 1969er Original weder #SweetDream noch #LivingInThePast. Weiß ich, weil: Es war war die erste LP in meinem Plattenschrank 🙂

🖥️📉 "Heroic" Doug Brown regales us with his legendary tale of slaying the dread Black Screen bug in Basilisk II, a triumph only relevant to those living in 2013. 🏆 Meanwhile, the rest of us are busy, you know, using modern software. 🙄 #LivingInThePast #NotAllHeroesWearCapes

I saw that the subway fare in NYC is going up this weekend, and just for a moment I had an urge to run out and buy a bunch of tokens tonight so I can ride on the old fare for a few extra weeks.

"#LivingInThePast" is a song by British #progressiveRock group #JethroTull. It is one of the band's best-known songs, and it is notable for being written in the unusual 54 time signature, though it is properly felt as a very distinct 68 + 24 #syncopated rhythm. The 54 time signature is quickly noted from the beginning rhythmic #bass pattern.

One of the most often quoted arguments against simple living is that it's just an abortive way of living in the past, and denying the present. Listen to find out why I don't think this is true.

@zensolo
I agree, #ListeningClub is a frequent revelation for the ears/mind.What I discovered in trying to choose a couple selections to contribute to the #FestiveVortex , was that, of all the music I took note of (i.e., added to my collection) in the past year, only two albums were actually released in 2022 (#LivingInThePast …). While this made choosing between artists simpler (one song from each qualifier), it seemed to make choosing which songs to submit more challenging…
