Another of those brilliant guitarists who was gone way too soon. Fits the mood here on deck.

I think I’m gonna make this guitar riff my ring tone. Or one of em.

“I liked how a truck’s lights illuminated Michigan Trader as someone made a walk down with a flashlight. Some nightly reflections from the antenna farm shined across the water.” - Adam Bjornberg

“The sky absolutely exploded with color, lighting up Lake Superior and Split Rock Lighthouse in a way I haven’t seen in weeks.” - Hayes Scriven

I get inside from the Friday night deck shenanigans and find them behaving. Of course, after I took this, they both jumped up and followed me into the kitchen and sat side by side, expecting treats. I had to oblige.

A couple years ago the 60s band The Ides Of March, best known for their song “Vehicle,” performed here at the local performing arts center and I went to take photos for the newspaper. One of the band’s members is Jim Peterik who wrote “Vehicle” and also wrote songs in the 80s as a member of the band Survivor. The band played some of those tunes that night along with this one Jim wrote for .38 Special.

Rockin heaven down is what early fall Fridays on deck with some hot tea (and this evening a pour of Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey) are all about, I reckon.

I miss Tom Petty; the first verse kinda sums things up these days.

We gotta get to A Higher Place
And we gotta leave by night
Before that river takes us down
We gotta find somewhere that's dry
Yeah, we gotta run like we've never run
Or we're gonna lose the light
If we don't get to A Higher Place and
Find somebody who can help somebody
Who might be nobody no more
