We continued down the beach, past mysterious things like fuzzy growths on alder stems and a driftwood shelter that would have accommodated a very small person on rather damp soil.
After a little over 2 miles from the start, and having passed all the agate hunters we could see, we decided we'd had enough and headed back, no other trails available further inland along this stretch of shoreline.

If one were into working with natural clays for pottery, this would be a great place to visit! Though a bit remote for carting your stuff back to civilization.

This is clearly Agate Hunting Land: despite it being a Monday, there were multiple groups of people down the beach looking for special rocks.
We walked by, humans admiring the scenery and huskies exploring the scents and splashes, both in the water and along the edge of the beach where interesting smells wafted.

Today we drove straight north from our cabin to Black River Harbor, where the Black R. empties into Lake Superior. It's just West of the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness where we've done a LOT of hiking over the years, but a place we've never visited until today!
We crossed the river on the historic suspension bridge and then followed the shoreline east for a couple miles or so. It was a perfect weather day, with calm water and occasional fog rolling in off the lake.
