Made a couple of happenstance discoveries in the basement this morning: WWDR Developer Connection DVDs and my MacWorld Encore 2007 disc(s). The WWDR DVDs span December 2007 to April 2009 in this set (perhaps a wider date range - I didn't check the whole stack in detail). Not pictured were some misc older OS X release discs as well.

Is there such a thing as a USB to 50 pin SCSI adapter? I have a HD from a Mac SE/30, before I destroy it I wonder if there is anything on it? So a thing happened today!
After researching, watching videos, procrastinating, watching more videos, talking to friends, drinking lots of coffee, and did even more procrastinating, I removed leaky caps from a #MacClassic system board! This was my first attempt at removing caps from a board. Not too bad.
Dealing with C2 and C8 are going to be “fu”n. 🤣😇

At yesterday's #MIT flea market I picked up this Apple PowerBook 160 for $20. It still powers on but is missing a hard drive I think. Appears to be in great condition on the outside. It even came with its original charger.

I have an old #MacBookPro - 17”, the last one before the unibody versions came out. I keep coming back to the idea that I can still use it somehow, but it feels quixotic at the same time. It IS a hot laptop, and heat was a big problem back then, along with the performance of the graphics card. But I managed to resolve a 10 year old screen issue just by using Recovery Mode, and have it in a state to now run iOS El Capitan. Is it worth it? Should I upgrade the guts, etc? #vintageMac #retroMac

Today to honor Steve #Wozniak, who gave the commencement address to undergraduates at #CUBoulder, at @mediaarchaeologylab I pulled out an old app that is part of the Whacked #Mac Archives, curated by the #L0pht.
The app's sole purpose is to pull a series of fuzzy, heavily dithered PICT format bitmap images out of the ROM of a #Macintosh SE (and no other model). This was an easter egg of epic proportions - photos of the early people who worked at #Apple Computer, burned into the silicon that powers the computer. Seeing these images was a bit like what I imagine an alien species would feel when they play the golden record on Voyager for the first time.
Sorry for the weird bars on some of these photos. I'll try to get clearer ones next week.
