"the initiative would give police power to arrest people who fall asleep in public"
So there's a fucked up ballot initiative coming that wants to make existing at all as a homeless person a jail-able offense.
It's sponsored by non-other than the Seattle police union (aka SPOG) and is a power grab to give useless cops an easy way to pack prisons.
Don't sign this bullshit initiative.

Harrell’s Office Buries Records Pertaining to Investigation into Chief of Staff
Someone told me that he believes Harrell has "done a good job." Should I send this link to him to convince him otherwise? (No, nothing would convince him otherwise.)

Looks like we get _three_ per-precinct data drops for the August 2025 primary election in King County, WA:
1. Election night data, by 4 pm this Friday
2. “Mid-election”, counting data collected by the Friday after Election Day, dropping by 4 pm on Wed 8/13
3. Final data, by 4 pm on 8/20I’ve never seen a mid-election drop in the ~6 years I’ve been making maps. Wonder why they made the change.

Lmao the Seattle Times editorial clowns continue to be out of touch 🤡
(they also *didn't* endorse Alexis Mercedes Rinck, the best councilmember we currently have, and *did* endorse Sara Nelson)

Seattle City Council is considering rolling back ethics protections- removing the requirement for officials to recuse themselves from votes benefiting them personally.
Disclosure alone isn't enough! Email your councilmembers (including the two Citywide CMs): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PGs-PHIelFd9-EJ8v45Yujhd6kEiloBXVE-o0ocNznA/edit?usp=sharing

"Harrell… is the establishment. He’s the status quo, and it’s not working… He appointed a high school buddy to lead the regional homelessness authority at a very sensitive time… He appointed an incompetent police chief who resigned amid allegations of sexual harassment and having an affair with his staff. His external affairs director resigned amid rape allegations. At the most basic, I think he has poor judgment and we can do better.” -
I'm looking forward to seeing how Katie Wilson does in this campaign, I absolutely LOATHE Harrell, and she sounds like she's got a good head on her shoulders :) #waPol #SeattlePol

I dipped out of the city council meeting to watch the I-137 community forum, was pretty obvious how this was gonna play out.
The council has passed the SODA/SOAP bills which makes looking like a homeless person, a sex worker, or drug user in Seattle a reason a cop can stop you.
You can be banned from neighborhoods and fined $5k for existing in the wrong places.

CW: Seattle Politics, Police
This lawsuit never should have been brought. I'm glad it's finally over. Cops have to have thick skin. Too many don't.
