## WA Govt Learns Nothing from Past Market Failures
Here we go again, applying #EconomicRalionalism and its *Markets are more efficient in using resources* mantra. #Managerialism is alive and well in the university sector.
Any fool who’s looked at what the *markets* deliver in sectors that are *cleary* there for **the public good** would know, based on empirical evidence, that for any *services* such as Public Transport, Education, Healthcare, etc. the *markets* have **consitently failed to deliver efficiencies for the public good**. From an socio-economic perspective, subjecting public good services to market dynamics will bear all the hallmarks of a *Traditional Market Failure*.
Economies of scale do not apply to educational institutions (think student per class, and teacher loads per student). Least of all to universities with respect to specialization and academic reputation and dare I say competitions for the brightest minds in relevent field of expertise.
This WA project, like the SA one before it, is an application of the debunked #NeoClassical economics applied to a *public good* sector because the decision-makers are brain washed #NeoLiberals fed on the dominant and moribund economic theory of the day.
Nothing good will come of it and the economic benefits touted by the WA Premier will simply fail to eventuate. The only result from this proposed merge will quite frankly produce a standard **saussage factory** placed under political control.
