Happy Monday from Tokyo, where we're headed into the hottest week of 2025 so far. Trying to provide some cool-down with this boat ride on Emerald Lake in the Canadian Rockies. Surrounded by a forest of Engelmann spruce, it is covered in ice most of the year. For a few short months in summer, it comes to life when hikers, horseback riders and canoeists come to soak in the magnificent scenery.

Kamikōchi (上高地) is a mountainous highland valley in the western part of Nagano Prefecture, Japan. In the autumn of 2022, we visited there on a perfect day to enjoy the splendid scenery, and hiked from Kappa Bridge to Myōjin Pond. A perfect place to recover from Tokyo’s hustle and bustle. 🏔️🥾

My favorite rainbow photo is this one I took way back when I was still living in the southwest-German countryside. After a rain shower on an autumn afternoon, I noticed a very peculiar light mood outside, so I grabbed my camera and ran out. Little did I know that in addition to that light, I would be presented with a rainbow rising above the fields adjacent to my place.
